Maverick requires coils and other steel to be double tarped. The first tarp is a light canvas tarp used to protect the vinyl tarp from being torn by the material.

You wish!! TMC has ragged out trucks! My truck was 7 years old when TMC assigned it to me. It had over 750,000 miles on it. My Maverick truck is a 2013 and had 24,000 on it when assigned. There's more to trucking than a "pretty" truck.

I have a four year long thread called Heading To Little Rock.....I tell it like it is.
Double tarping is using a canvas tarp under your main tarps for two reasons....1. To protect your tarps from being damaged and 2. to add additional protection to the product. All coils are to be double tarped. Pipe loads get double tarped on the the ends where they can damage your main tarps. It is not that much extra work. I will also use my canvas tarps on steel beams to protect my main tarps. It is easier to roll them out then to be constantly patching your tarps.
I always find it amusing that someone that has never driven for Maverick can say that it is not a good company. If you worked for Maverick and it did not work out, that is life, just move on to the next one.
As far as it being a good company to start with, it is not a starter company even though they take on new drivers. I am constantly looking what others pay and they are right up there at the top. Not saying they are the highest, but when you look at everything that is important, there is not a big enough difference to make a change.
There are a lot of good companies out there and Maverick is one of them.

Oh man, be more specific on this. When you arrive at the Rock, you will make a Walmart run. You will have plenty of opportunities to go to a store. I guess I would recommend to bring a pair of shower shoes, flip flops, to wear while taking a shower. Bring a TRUCKERS atlas. Bring a good attitude.
I don't know what else, keep your question posted. There are a lot of good Mavericks on this site that can/will help.

I was never lied to when I was working for them... occasionally someone had the wrong information, but I was never lied to and always respected.
