This is true but most of the dedicated accounts you have to live with in 50 miles. WF is more that 50 miles but the south side of DFW is within 50 mile of Corsacana. If you live close to a dedicated account of any kind and they have a spot open that they need filled you will be put on that account even if you dont want to be. I personally know of a Glass driver that got put on a dedicated lumber account in NC for 3 months and hated it. They let him off when some one hired on for it.

I was on the Wichita Falls dedicated account for a few months and lived 120 miles away. My trainer is still on it and lives 200 miles away. If you live farther than 50 miles away, you'll have to leave your vehicle at the shipper and drive home. They won't let you deadhead over 50 miles but MOST of the time, you'll have a load that takes you right through the house for a Monday delivery.

The glass division is a good gig. I'm "OTR" and stay out 3 months at a time. 95% of the time, you will have overnight parking at the customer, which is a huge plus. You'll definitely make more than flatbed. I'm at .56$ a mile with the performance bonus. Last week, I had 3,200 miles and brought in almost 1500$, take home pay. You'll see a lot of the country, spend a lot of time in Canada and California. They also just raised our tarp pay to 30$.

Good luck. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

There's a dedicated account in Corsicana and WF. WF, you'll spend a lot of time hauling containers to Houston ports, so you'll need a TWIC card. Easy runs, good miles. 493 down, 493 back up.

once you get on a dedicated account, it is EXTREMELY HARD to get off of it. Be careful what you wish for is my advice.

Had a new guy ask me today if there was anything he should be wary of here at Maverick...he's been here about 2 months I think he said...I told him "yes, stay away from dedicated accounts..."

He asked, I answered to the best of my ability...they work for some, but are terrible for many...it depends on where you live....this new guy lives in Arkansas.

Hey Drivers.... Been talking to Maverick the last couple of days..., sounds excellent. Only been OTR 2 years as an O/O, mainly for Landstar, and Packard Logistics (Got my own authority and do my own dispatching) and own my 2007 Columbia, 50' stepdeck.....but between the IFTA, finding my own loads, doing much of my own PM, and certainly paying for all the repairs, which have been relatively small, but probably average $600-700 a month, making the payments (5 more) and paying 1k a month for insurance.....whew, I think I'm ready to basically just drive.....and leave all of those headaches to the better qualified, although, I am proud of the job I've done. I have an excellent CSA score, no tickets, no shut downs, no accidents, no claims, and haven't been late. I bring this to Maverick, and sincerely think this is going to be a very good relationship. I live in Central Illinois, and have been told, I am qualified for Specialized, and they mentioned glass.....I live in a town that has a PPG flat glass factory. I'm excited reading your posts, and feeling all of the positive attitudes about Maverick, and especially Specialized, or Glass.....and I hope to be joining you soon, (I'd like to pay this Columbia off before I get started, but am anxious to do so, on both counts). I figure in the beginning, like most places, I'll have to pay my dues....and if that means taking the crappy runs, so be it. You can't start at the top, those places are earned. Just wanted to say hey.... I hope I make the cut, and if so, look forward to meeting you guys someday soon.
