If you guys were given the chance to start over with a company somewhere would you choose Maverick again? I keep leaning on Maverick as my first trucking job and there running my application right now so I'm just trying to soak up info before they call back and send me my ticket to Little Rock. I've had job offers from just about everyone that hires new grads in my area and with so many offers it gets down to the point where I question if this is the right choice.

I don't wanna drive box trucks too badly so flatbed sounds good to me and I've got mixed feelings on the automatic transmissions, Dont wanna regress from my training after a year with maverick and fail to get a good paying local job because I've been driving auto. On the other hand Auto sounds like it will be less stressful and a bit more fun to drive in town. From all my google searchin Ive found very little negative info toward maverick is it really that good?

    thanks

from what i have heard/read maverick just like most megas are good starter companies. some of the megas are good for long term 2+ years and others 1 year and leave. do your research on here(lots of megas to choose from) but if i was you look intown for a local, and NOT online jump in your car/truck/SUV and apply in person.
i did and i am SO glad i did

Only negative to maverick is they are very similar to TMC but they pay less. Other then that, they are a above average starter company.

I loved driving for Maverick, I drove for them in 2006 and I am approved for rehire and calling tomorrow to see when I can set the orientation date, if all goes well it will be next week. Maverick was always honest with me, even if the truth is not what I really wanted to hear. I really appreciated that, I would rather be unhappy with the truth than angry that I was lied to, this was unlike some other companies that I have worked for. I made good money, had good benefits, and great home time for a driving job. The way that I was treated is the reason that I am willing to go back to Maverick, and the reason that my wife is ok with me going back on the road after being home for 6 years, she trusts Maverick and knowing her that says a lot.

Springfield, MO, theres a few good local companies in the area like TCSI Transland, RBX, Con-way, IWX. just want to make a good decision.

Ive got an interview at Lowe's tomorrow I might just stay local and drive for them depending on what they offer lol.

Springfield is a good area for Maverick. They keep I-44 nice and warm.
A lot of steel out of Ft. Smith heads northeasterly. Oklahoma has a fair amount of freight going in and out of it as well.
The pay doesn't look stellar to start, but it goes up quickly and the pay for performance thing helps. It doesn't take a whole lot to add 5 or 6 cpm with that. As a complete newby, I've already flirted with the full 6 cpm this quarter, but if the quarter ended today I'd still be at 5 cpm extra. It's based on a few goals they give you that if you're paying attention to your routes and mileage, it works out pretty well.
There are a LOT of long-term older drivers at Maverick, so while they do hire the inexperienced, they surely can't have too bad a reputation.

I like the autos just fine, but do have concerns if I were to have to get another job down the road. It's hard to get a gauge on how automatics will impact the industry. Sounds like some companies have tried it and went back to standards, while others have had no problems with them.
I personally think autos inevitable as they improve and become more widely accepted. Before anyone jumps on me for saying that, I have no hard-line views on it myself, and for most of my life preferred standards in my cars.
Judging by the automotive industry, human nature seems to lean towards autos for most folks. As more and more new drivers come into the industry, there'll be less and less stigma associated with autos. That's just my observation.

I've heard good things about Transland from a few different people. Same goes for IBX.
