I received my invitation to orientation yesterday and looks like I will be going on July 6th. I'm excited but a little nervous. I'm a brand new driver. They wanted me to start this weekend but I needed to give a 2 week notice to my current employer. I just think it is the right thing to do. I did have one question that might be kind of basic but I go by the policy of "the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked" so here goes. My understanding is that Maverick provides lunch during orientation. How does one go about getting breakfast and Supper during orientation and load securement training? I have money so that is not the issue. It is just that I will be riding the greyhound to get to orientation and won't have transportation to get out and go anywhere to eat. Does Maverick have a cafeteria on site or do they provide transportation for you to go out to eat or should I plan on bringing something with me? Thanks and looking forward to being a Maverick driver! Have a nice day!

Not sure about Maverick but most companies provide breakfast and lunch and you provide your own dinner. Normally Breakfast of some sorry arse excuse of muffins or what not in the lobby. Lunch will be brought to you at the yard. Dinner, there is normally something right close by the hotel unless they serve it too then I don't know where they would serve it. This is orientation 101 with any company which may vary slightly but pretty much the same cookie cutter type plan.

there is a van for the students to use. You can also buy food at Walmart and there is a refrigerator...but it gets full. Can buy non refrigerated stuff and then microwave it.

Thank you Jim, just what I needed to know. By the way I listed you as a referral source on my application so don't be surprised if you get a little bonus on one of your checks soon. It was your thread that really sold me on Maverick.

What Jim said, they have 3 vans and a couple of cars at the yard that can be checked out. They no longer have a community fridge in the lounge, but there are micro fridges in the rooms. They only provide lunches, and after job offers its all on you. Congrats, and good luck.

Are they letting the newbies use the cars now? They wouldn't when I went through training. Saved them for the current drivers.

Any word on why they took out the two refrigerators in the lounge? Just got tired of cleaning them out every Friday and having 19 bottles of mustard?
