Finally got unloaded in Georgetown. Thought we would have to wait until morning to be unloaded but got unloaded about 7:00pm and we went on over to a Pilot off Exit 129 on I-65. We have a work assignment to pick up sheet rock in Silver Grove, KY (basically Cincinnati) that delivers in Greenville, SC so should be home for the weekend by tomorrow evening if all goes well.

One of the biggest things about this job is having patience. Looking back, and I can't say if this was deliberate or coincidental, but I had a lot more downtime and waiting at shippers/consignees when I was with my trainer than after I went solo.

Also, be flexible and willing to change plans at a moment's notice if, as happened in your case, you think you'll have to wait awhile and then suddenly it's time to get moving. It's a mental game sometimes. A lot of times.

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted. I've been very busy as you can imagine. Just completed road instructor training today. My instructor was awesome and the experience was great. I learned so much. I went to Georgetown,KY; Charlotte,NC; Nee York City; Chicago and many other places. I got all different kinds of loads from steel coils to lumber and many other types. I drove about 7,000 miles on 3 weeks and it has been great. No load was available going back through Little Rock so I was dropped off in Gary,Indiana at the terminal. I will go to Little Rock on Greyhound (fun fun) and do final evals this week. Updates to follow.

Survived the Greyhound. I completed final evals with no problems. I am being sent to Laurinburg,NC terminal (this time by plane woo-hoo). I will be getting truck tomorrow morning and then go home for a few days before starting. I must say the Maverick training is intense but excellent. I feel prepared to start, though I know I still have a lot to learn.
