I'm going out with my TCD trainer within the next day or so.

TCD runs day and night. We stick to the HOS regs, but you have to get comfortable running days and nights. (Actually, most of our backing is at night when I think about it.)

Thanks Ronin, so what percentage of the time are you running overnight...like between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.?

Almost half the time we're running during those hours. (Not necessarily from 10p thru 4a, but bumping docks between 11p & 2a is very common.)

Ever have trouble finding places to park, such as your hours being finished before the truck stops and rest areas clear out in the morning?

Sometimes you have to get creative, but I've never had any real problems. Most nights are at customer sites, so truckstop overcrowding isn't a nightly ordeal.

I'm a flatbedder here, but I've been contemplating seeing if it'd be possible to transfer to TCD during the winter months (don't much care for dealing with frozen tarps). Who all are the shippers and consignees that we run for, anyhow?

TCD starts out at 35 cpm, 38 cpm at 3 months, 41 cpm at 6 months and 42 at a years otr. I've been with maverick for 2 yrs now. Former trainer, the best advice for new drivers is to manage your time. I can go out for 3-6 weeks and not take a restart(34). I manage my time to a "T". Don't be a truck stop driver, if the customer has over night parking and you can get there with violating, do it. This sets you up for the next day. Remember the 70 hours clock is your paycheck. We still run Canada but not the west coast anymore, only Toronto. TCD runs 24/7, you might deliver in the morning and pick up that night

Like Ronin said about the trucks all the 2011's are getting replaced with 2015's. The mid-roofs are very roomy for a solo driver.

    Rigbuilder Thanks this.

I cannot agree more with the time management, If sleeping at a customer is allowed, and you can get there in time, take the option, unless there is a truck stop not too far away to where it won't eat up your time getting there. I would take the truck stop option only if i needed a shower badly, or if i needed fuel right away and i ran out of hours.
