Will they hire you then?. . . . . . .who knows?
Is Maverick's Recruiting Department capable of monitoring this and other "trucker boards"?...........yep
Are any other other trucking company's recruiting departments capable of monitoring this and other "trucker boards"?........yep
Should you be invited to attend Maverick's "two week long job interview" a.k.a "Orientation" are you smart enough to keep your eyes/ears open, mouth shut?.............yep
Would you?.............. You're the only one that can honestly answer that question.
Hope all is well with your mom.Last edited: Dec 31, 2011
The Gryphon Thanks this. -
The reason I said that is I have spoken to their drivers in length. They told me that when they were in orientation they are sitting in a class room and are told to take notes and no questions. They then brought out a model of a flatbed and were shown on the model how to secure the load.
At SDI in butler, there were two of them frantic about setting up their load for a coil. They told me that they had not been taught how to use any of their equipment and did not know how to set up the coil racks.
The funny thing is that they started arguing with me about what I was telling them.
I finally told them that I did not understand their attitude as they came over and asked me how to do it. I then just turned and went back to tarping my load...which was set up and secured properly. -
210,000 pounds but that wasn't with maverick. I was an owner operator pulling Michigan trains. And yes I was not legal at all. It was a nice little short run. Normally I would run with the 120,000 pounds to 150,000 pounds that was back in the good old days.Last edited: Dec 31, 2011

You were in school, you are working at restaurants and with pam five months.
He was on unemployment for a year and a half.
So is history had everything to do with it not his attitude. The Gryphon Thanks this. -
Not sure why you felt the need to try to insult me about my "attitude". But, just to be clear, I'm not insulted because I know that the truth is that I don't have a bad attitude. That's the only thing that we as human beings have complete control over, and I choose to have a positive one in general despite the circumstances.
And saying that I think that a policy is stupid is not having a bad attitude, it's stating an opinion.
I don't have a negative attitude about Maverick in general. I just think that the policy that the recruiter cited to me is stupid and does little to accomplish the goal that they probably put it in place to accomplish.
So as for my "attitude" having anything to do with Maverick not hiring me, I don't think that was it as the very first time I talked with anyone there was when the recruiter called to tell me that they couldn't hire me because I had been unemployed too long, etc. He told me why they weren't able to hire me, so I'm taking him at his word that was the reason. He was almost apologizing saying that it didn't make any sense to him and he didn't expect it to make any to me either. I was very professional with him on the phone and thanked him for his time and his call and stated that while I was disappointed, I understood that "company policy" is "company policy" and perhaps I would reapply with them at some point in the future once I had some driving experience.
I'm glad that you like Maverick and see yourself being there for a long time. I obviously thought they were a good company or I wouldn't have applied to work for them. I'm sure they are a great company. But even great companies sometimes have policies that don't make a lot of sense. In my opinion the one cited to me is one of those policies.sewerman Thanks this.
