I have 12 months OTR reefer experience, but have been off the road for almost 5 years now. I have a clean DAC and driving record, just trying to get back behind the wheel of a truck. Thanks for any info you guys/gals have!
Does Maverick have an option for drivers that have been off the road for a while?

I think they would start you at the beginning since you have been off the road for so long but, to be sure call them. You can trust the recruiters with Maverick.

Thanks, I'll give them a shout this upcoming week and see how it goes. Thanks again!

I had 4 years OTR but quit driving for about 7 years. I started with Maverick in early June. I did have to start over as a student, and go out with a trainer for a few weeks. It was good, a lot has changed since I last drove.
Good luck.jestedsniper Thanks this. -
How was the training program?

You want reefers again or just anything to get started again?
Maverick's a good company, but a waiting list for trainers.
Pride Transport or Paschall Truck Lines might get you on the road ASAP with no wait.
Western Express will probably put you to work tomorrow; that's a company where it seems you love it or hate it. Some drivers don't last a month and some stay for years. -
Truthfully, I was going to look into the flatbed. I never had an issue pulling reefer, but I'm kinda looking at flatbed as something more of a challenge, so it's very promising. I saw that they would provide tarp training and such, so I knew there would be some training time, but based on how I remember my training period with England, and that just sends shivers down my spine. I was looking at Maverick or Melton, but seems Maverick has bigger possibilities.

Maverick is a great company. I would definitely apply. You will have to go through like a brand new driver, going through orientation, load securement training, and then a minimum of 21 days with a road instructor. I'm currently less than 2 weeks left with my road instructor and am learning a lot. The time with the road instructor will be well worth it if only to help you learn securement and tarping better. Good luck!
Rigbuilder and jestedsniper Thank this.
