Maverick is high on my wish list of companies that I will be applying with but had a couple of questions. First, as a new CDL holder what is the pay like in terms of per mile? Do they pay practical or do they offer % pay at all? Also I'm out of NC and was wondering what the miles might average out to be considering I'd like to do 2 weeks out at a time. Thanks I'm advance for your responses.

Best advice I can give you johnkraymond is to check out www.maverickusa.com Ive been here 3 years and have been very happy with Maverick. As of right now I get 2000+ miles per week.

It does depend on your division in terms of pay per mile. They do not pay % in any division that I am aware of. I'll give you my personal experience.

I started out at $.33 per mile and they increased my pay to $.36 per mile after three months with the company (this is basically after a month-and-a-half of solo driving as the first half of the three months was spent in securement training and with my trainer). After six months with the company my pay was bumped up to $0.42 per mile. The month after that occurred was when the Performance Pay Bonus kicked in. I earned the maximum bonus of six cents per mile. So I'm making $0.48 per mile after starting in January and I'm home for varying amounts of time every weekend.

Now, I'm in one regional flatbed division where they strive to get you home every week for a bit of home time, which varies depending on where you live. If you want to be out for two weeks at a time, you might want to consider the long-haul USA division, where you get an extra two cents per mile, if I understood the QUALCOMM message that we all received last month. They also average more miles per week than the regional drivers from what I've been told.

You can also stay out longer in any division that you end up in.

Slightly OT, but can anyone confirm the size of the beds in a solo sleeper? My husband is waiting for his paperwork to finish up. Once he's allowed I'm going OTR with him.

Twin size, I think. I had my son with me for 3 weeks it was close but doable, a husband and wife can sleep a little closer than father and son.
