Just wondering if there are any drivers who take a guitar with them on the road? I've considered it, but I'm concerned about temp changes, humidity, theft etc.

I take my mandolin. But I'm worried about that as well so my expensive one is at the house and I got a good one from a pawn shop for about 130.00 that I won't cry over when it wears out.

I don't take the good pieces out on the road. A cheap squire strat, DOD stomp box and a 15w vox practice amp. Keeps the fingers loose and gets decent sound and if I want to crank it I get really good sound on the headphones.

Guitars in trucks are frowned upon. Now, Neil Peart's drum kit? Totally ok. Might have to remove a cabinet though.....

I carry an old acoustic with me. It's not an expensive one so I don't get too upset if it gets a ding or scrape. FYI, laminate top acoustics do better with temp and humidity changes than solid tops.

I'm not a driver yet but if I start driving I have a Epiphone ( Les Paul copy ) and a Roland Micro Cube amp that gets all kinds of sounds. Clean and dirty channels. Also an Ibanez acoustic I might take with me. Both would be great for the road.
