    Hello everyone,

My husband is a OTR for 4 years with a large company. We are looking into Maverick Flatbed and trying to figure out pay difference. I will not mention company he is with now but his pay scale is real high $.64 cpm. He talked with a recruiter last week on our way home from vacation. The differance in his company now and Maverick that he likes is he will not be sitting all day gaining weight. Also be home most weekends and I can join him on the road.

We understand what pay scale is related to his experience. But we are trying to wrap our heads around the bonuses and how they effect pay. As of now he only get a safety bonus once a year. He was quoted $.42 cpm start due to his experience. Fuel bonus to him will be new as well has tarping ect. Just baseing on CPM it would not be worth the switch BUT we are thinking the other bonuses would make up the difference. Since he is the only working person in the house (we have a farm with BIL and MIL here besides myself) his pay check pays house bills. We need some cold hard facts here on how bonuses effect net pay, weekly, monthly and for the year. Right now his fuel mileage is around 7 and he is pulling enclosed doubles to Salt Lake weekly on a schedule then running wild till his time runs out for week and is home for is 36 hours. Benefits are almost the same as it is the same company so that is not a concern.

I have read some of the posts here from Sarge the trainer as well as Jim the Hut. Ty both for some good information. But it was years ago I was reading and I would like updated information on this now. Please PM if you are not comfortable with posting. I understand totally as I am a privet person when it comes to stuff like money, location ect. We were told that if he did sign up he would be running 55 corridor most likely since it is close to our farm home.

Also what is time off during year, I am refering to slow periods. Right now he looses after New Year a couple of weeks. Are you getting increased time for vacation the longer you are with the company also? Again Thank you all in advance for any and all help with this. Maverick sounds just like what he wants but pay cut that is too much will not work. I am hoping it is better than what we are figuring out.

I make .44 cpm with almost a year at maverick. Bonus pay is from 0 to .06cpm. I get 6 cent bonus. $25 tarp pay. $30 stop pay for stops past 1st one. Most guys seem to average 2000 to 2500 miles.

Thanks Goatman826. We have changed plans do to him having to retake his Dot physical with them. He just had it done with his company but ..... So he is going to stay where he is at for now and I am getting my CDL to join him. BTW and off topic I have La Manchas here. I have to pick up my polled buck this month.

I had a dot physical 2 weeks before my maverick orientation. But they wanted their own. They paid for it. So I didn't care
