Can anyone that works or has recently worked for Maverick tell me why their CSA score under the catagory 'Unsafe Driving" is at 72%? The other scores are average or better than other flatbed companies. Should these scores be a make or break when deciding who to go with? I emailed my recruiter for feedback as well.

You can PM as well if easier.

I posted in New Driver thread but also looking for those with first hand experience.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

All I know is we recently got a stern message from safety warning us against speeding, especially in Indiana. My guess is several Maverick drivers have gotten speeding tickets in Indiana recently.

Anything negitive is a good reason to stay away. these scores affect you being pulled over or pulled in for inspections.

I never let that stop me before, I'm not one who watches that CSA score constantly, I just drive the speed limit, and do my own thing, I could care less about it, You can have a brand new truck/trailer off the showroom and find something wrong with it, may just be an airline rubbing, but hey, that's not legal! We'll write you up and give you points, its kinda like now, You got caught speeding/no seat belt/whatever, but you pay us $xx.xx and we'll forgive you this time.. Just do it the right way to begin with, a company with hundreds of drivers is bound to get more of a score than a smaller one, more trucks/more chances of being stopped, common logic. I know several drivers from here, including my dad who used to work here before he retired from driving, who never have anything bad to say about them, or the equipment.

I wouldn't care if I wanted the job. Honestly I could care less about CSA. I do my thing and don't really worry about it.

Listen, Indiana is a complete ##### when it comes to speeding. My company's unsafe is at 81% and all there speeding's are from Indiana. Those guys are ruthless. Safety has sent out many messages warning drivers not to speed in Indiana.. even if it's only "1-5" over because that can turn into "6-10" over. A DOT trooper tried to pin me on going 6 over when I was only going 4. Luckily, he heard me out and just gave me a "1-5" speeding warning in a DOT inspection which doesnt count against my CSA or my company's CSA record. #### INDIANA!

EDIT: Indiana is a complete ##### towards everything actually.

@ OP ... honestly, there's a fine line between making your choice based on a carrier's CSA. I dont know. As long as your doing your job right, you'll be okay.

I get pulled into scales sometimes. Don't bother me, I have nothing to hide. Heck I sometimes stay the night at scales. What's a better safe haven than that.

That's a big change for Indiana. It used to be they had a 65 truck limit but we used the old rule "they give you 5 mph and we take another 5mph"! It used to be a 10 hour 612 miles run from Union 75 Calumet to Standard Truck stop Ringgold Ga. My old KW would only do 75 but I could do it from the Illinois line to Ga. flat out. Only stop was the scales in Tn. if they were open!
