There idle rules though seem a extreme.Like everybody else if your not happy change your situation as lifes to short!

well you cant sit in a truck stop with your windows down.(not safe). say your parked on an off ramp and not in a ta. or emergancy pull off. i was taught keep it running. unless i wanted to be stranded with bad batteries. shut your truck off in freezing temps cause there is a cab heater? yeah ok ! then truck freezes up. they already applied a fuel surcharge they are not paying for you to idle. they want you to not idle so they can put some of that fuel surcharge in there pocket!

well, for one, you're not supposed to be parked anywhere except the shipper/receiver or a rest/truck stop. If you are, in an emergency situation (as I was when a road was closed due to snow) I idled all night with my running lights on. Told them teh next morning, the reason, and was granbted the ENTIRE idle time

After speaking to several people on the operations side of things at May...the people getting idle charges are running like 60-70% idle!! (Are they even driving!??!) As well as people asking for idle credit for running the truck all night in 65 degree weather...
It's not like the idle policy is some sort of surprise, it is gone over in great detail in orientation, as well as your trainer SHOULD explain it as well.
It's 71 in the chicago area righht now...my Breezeway screens are in up front, and my windows are open in the back...feels great! NO IDLING TONIGHT! (idle extract will be done in a few hours...I'm at 26.92% with the few occasions of idle credit granted, I'm under 20% effective idling for this two week period in AUGUST, ~163hrs/6400 miles
NEVER broke a sweat in the truck!!

I guess it depends on where you went to orientation and who your trainer was. The only thing that was covered with me is "if you idle over you'll pay for it" or "there is no reason to idle"

I agree with the majority on this topic. It's BS! I do agree there are people that idle too much but if it's uncomfortable and you need rest to be safe you shouldn't have to ask for permission.

Life is to short.

People that say there is no need to idle are ridiculous I idled 60 gallons not a charge, the key to success is communication

Ohh I have communicated, over QC. I was in van buren.Arkansas on the 1st Sept and was told I dont think your idle request will get covered as its cooling down at night, it was 99 at 10 pm. I can't wait tell it gets low enough to shut off, that all should be covered since the truck is governed at 60 anyway.
