Newbies such as myself have to understand, there are MANY who are entering this industry that are inherently stupid with crappy attitudes. Unfortunately, your application may have matched the style of some of those. I believe you did the right thing. Be a duck, let it roll off your back, and call back like you did. It shows you actually care about your position, and are not just some schlump flinging apps out there to see where one sticks.

I worked for May Trucking and my Recruiter was Greg and Vonnie in Payette Id. They were nice and I had a good time while I was there. I only lasted for about about six months and was able to get a local job for coke where I could be home nights and weekends.

All I can say, is if you are expecting to enter a supportive team enviroment, then trucking is not for you. I had "O" as a recruiter, had 2 very short conversations with her. During my training I never spoke to anyone at the company except my trainer. When I soloed out, the first time I called my DM
he cut me off and said "Always tell me your truck number first." Layton is the worst terminal I have been to for attitude, between the parts guys and the security guard giving major attitude when I try to get oil, load locks, ect, or when I try to take out the van.
That said, I don't think it is any better anywhere else in trucking. Due to the turnover factor, I don't think most people feel it is worth taking time to get to know someone who will be quitting after a month or year. And the attitudes and behavior of some of the drivers put a shadow on the rest of us. I try to behave courteously to everyone, and expect that back, but a lot of our co-worker don't behave that way.
I think initially, no one really gets respect from anyone, and you have to build your relationships over time. But I don't think May is any different from most of the companies out there in that respect.

Russjac thanks for your response and I'm not asking them to be buddy buddy with me but don't disrespect right off the back. I mean how would you like if I invited you over to my house but was totally disrespectful from the beginning it would make you think twice about coming would it not? But on a different note May trucking is in the past because I took a 6 hour crappy bus ride just to be at their orientation for 45 min and then sent home because I pushed not ran over but pushed a barrel no more than a 1/2 inch and then he tells me "shut it down, set your brakes, that's our testing for today your going home" and like I told him man that's some chicken ##### stuff right there. And they invite me back the following week to try again H*LL NO. So anyone can talk all the cramp they want but I ended up going to schneider and they didn't just give me the keys and say ok do that turn or do that backing they work with you all week and then tell you do that turn and do that backing and after a week and you still can't do it then you need to go home. Anyway to the point I went through schneider orientation and now I've been on my own and I have honestly had no issues so far and its been a month now so if trucking is the way you say it is then I should be having those so called respect issues that you say I should be having. From my dbl (dispatcher) to mechanics to the people who answer the gate intercom pretty much everybody is respectful and helpful. And I know someone may come on here and bash schneider, but if you were to work for the last company I worked for I really bash that place but that's because I was done dirty. And don't get all this twisted jodi and the female that does the orientation in Arizona sorry I can't recall her name were awesome and very polite and I appreciate their time but I felt if that's how May was going to be as a company then it wasn't for me. Now I know someone else might bash me about failing the skills test but remember I'm fresh out of school and have NOT been behind the wheel 2 months before going to May and all I get is 2 minutes to get familiar with the truck that's bull. With schneider I got a whole week and on top of that it only took me about 10 min to get it down and the rest of the week was easier for me. Once again I hear what your saying but so far I have to disagree because I haven't got any of what you said here at schneider.

The barrel simulates a stationary object. In the real world you've caused property and equipment damage. You should have stopped instead of hitting it. May did not do anything wrong so don't point fingers.
