Werner is one of those companies that will determine if you're a man or mouse and cut out for this industry. If you can last with them a yr or longer then you can take any company.Werner was my first company and stayed their 3 yrs.

Oh well you didn't say the part about trainer making you feel stupid. In that case then you was very much in the right for quitting..Trainers do sometimes feel superior because they have that title. No trainer, driver or anyone at that company should make anyone feel stupid but unfortunately it happens a lot in this industry. You'll learn with more exp to ignore a lot of what is said in this industry.Try a male trainer, they do have more patience from my exp back in the day. What did your company say after you ytold them this trainer made you feel stupid?

Good for you krazyhorse, I doubt she wanted you to fail though, that would put her in extreme danger as well.

Actually, I thought you got some good advice in this thread.
Might not all have been what you wanted to hear, but to do trucking, you need a thick skin and put your pride aside.
Not wanting to say details isn't a good approach. It tends to indicate denial, which isn't healthy for learning.

I wasn't there on that grade, so I can't say you were wrong or the trainer was wrong.
But in you saying you was "flying down that hill" tells me first off, you were in too high a gear and not going slow enough.
As for brake application,, I'd take the trainer's side because it's vital you stab those brakes at say, 68mph,
rather than even try to "not use brakes" and have to do it do it at 88 mph!

Throw the negativity away. You're not the only student that had a bad trainer. You may have 10 more trainers before you finally find one that you're comfortable with. This is minor and companies are fully aware of how many get trained only to go to another company to try their training program.Start applying to other companies, you'll get many calls and emails.

You are correct you need thick skin but you forgot the most important thing needed for trucking...HIPWADERS!!! you're bound to deal with some #### and it tends to stink so waders are a must:biggrin_25522:

krazyhorsechick and KW Cajun Thank this.
