Just about hiring pay? what about countless hours sitting, no pay, no miles, and charged for idle time?

Federal minimum per diem while traveling is around $50 per day. That is what the feds figure it costs to survive on the road.

What the company paid you was, potentially, less than $5.00 hour = under minimum wage

Neither did they cover you costs of being away from home as most any non-trucking corp does with a separate per-Diem check.

They should have been tossing $100 a day your way as an absolute minimum.

The lawsuit will help make it so others that follow behind you do not get hosed....

Oh, please spare me. Anytime I needed something taken care of at May regarding safety issues, they took care of it. They micro-manage their drivers to the extreme when it comes to compliance.

Im no longer at May but they do pay you $60.00 a day. I also think they are a good. Company. And I really dont see how someone would sue them. I had a problem there but it really was not the company. They treat people very good. I just happen to get a bad apple. But everyone else there drivers and company people were great.I made lots of friends there in a small amount of time.

No place pays great for training. Training alone is priceless

There were times I was working 14 or 15 hours a day for $60.00
But then there were times I did no work and sat around all day.and watched tv and ate and still got $60.00 to do nothing.

The company I'm with now paid me $125 to attend a one day orientation. That was a nice surprise, however, like I said before, it never even dawned on me that May was somehow ripping me off when I received nothing for attending their orientation (except housing & food) and $50 a day while on the trainer truck.

All you generous tax-payers underwrote my truck driving school (through a grant) tuition of $5,000. So, maybe I look at these things a little differently. May gave me a great opportunity, I drove three new trucks in three years, ran my butt off, saw the country and was well on my way to $60,000 for the year when I left in 2011.

Long time listener, first time caller. I drive for May, I got this letter, and Im upset.

    1) ######## about training pay? Really? I didnt care about the money at all when I was with my trainer. Never once. In 10 days the guy had me ready to solo out confidently. Wherever this career takes me I largely owe that trainer and by extension May Trucking. I should have paid them for what I got, and if I did I still would've come out way ahead in the long run for it.

Its just these miserable sacks who cant calm their nerves for 10 seconds and refuse to solo out for a month or more who start wondering where the money is. I mean, its May Trucking, the money is never going to be good but you havent earned anything yet. Youre a liability to the company still, theyre paying a good driver 10 cpm more to burn his 70 to the ground so you can learn. And youre ######## over minimum wage? Shut up. Find a new career. If you cannot handle a month or so of dversity you cant handle this job.

    2) There are legitimate gripes. McNally miles border on criminal, the 90 for 90 sceme is pretty ruthless too if youre dumb enough to sign up for it, the detention pay is a joke. If they were suing over this I'd consider supporting it, but theyre not. Theyre suing over training pay.

    3) Where do you think the money is going to come from? You think Marvin is gonna sell a few planes or take a cut himself? Nah. Hes just going to punish the drivers. So basically what this suit does is take payroll allocated funds, filter them through attorneys, then reward the whiniest drivers in the fleet.

    4) I hate truck drivers because they pull stunts like this.

    Its crap.

And no, Im not a shill. Im a driver whos fed up with all the self harm we do to ourselves because nobody ever thinks before doing or saying. Just ##### cause it feels good.
