I think they're governed at 45. Thought you're going to tankers?

Absolutely BACKWARDS from what it SHOULD be.
I had a truck that went faster in cruise than "to the floor", and found it to be the most obnoxious, worthless, and stressful set-up EVER. (luckily I was successful in talking the owner into letting a shop change that)

IF a company feels they need to split the available speed between cruise and foot-feet, a person needs the extra on the "mash" so they can get some passing done without bumping the cruise. Makes no sense to me.

I agree with anyone that says "give me the capability of going the speed limit in any given state that the truck is licensed for, and I will be the one responsible of following the speed limits". I have NEVER had a speeding ticket, and I have driven trucks that (according to the computer) were capable of doing triple digits.

If they give you more on the foot than on the cruise, you're going to be using your foot all the time. That's why they give you more on the cruise. Most trucks have a feature that can be set to give you more horsepower when using cruise.

Says who? Why would I want to hold my accelerator down for 650 miles? Do people really do that?

When I drove for SNI that's the way they set it up,61 on the cruise but you could do 64 on the pedal which was nice if you came up on a 60mph truck and wanted to pass.

In the Schneider truck I drove the Qualcom kept track of the percentage of time running over the 61 mph cruise setting, too much and it would cost you your quarterly bonus so you had to use it sparingly if you wanted the bonus.

its not about that they feel you are too stupid to operate the pedal or about safety, its about the cost of fuel. In orientation they showed us the savings by being governed at 60. every mile per hour over 55 costs 1/10th of a gallon of gas or something along them lines. the savings was in the millions per year.

they have found that running at a certain speed and shifting at certain rpms will help the truck run most efficiently cost wise.

they monitor your shift points as well. they also want you shifting at 1350 rpms. and also why they run the 13 speed transmission, because it provides a better final drive gear ratio for maximum fuel economy.

owner ops arent governed. all mays company driver trucks are governed at 60.
