May has the slowest trucks on the road. I got passed by every Prime truck today. Mays new trailers have "The Gold Standard" lettered in the back. More like the slow standard to me. Oh well. Maybe if I keep it at 55 mph everywhere, May would get complaints up the ying yang. You cant get a ticket for impeding traffic since most states have a minimum.

You CAN get a ticket for impeding at 55, Swift drivers used to get them in California, where it is the limit, and would have to fight them!

The speed limit is 55 in Cali. How is that impeding?

What are May's trucks governed at?

It could be a blessing in disguise that trucks are governed to much slower speeds. It GREATLY REDUCES a drivers chances of getting any speeding tickets.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

That could very well be the reason why May governed their trks so slow. But it also could be to save on fuel.KB local trks are governed at 57,don't think that didn't suck and the long haul trks at I think 61.All because of too many drivers getting speeding tickets.

I've never understood how drivers are trusted to operate 80,000 lb vehicles that cost upwards of $200,000 yet these companies feel we are to stupid to work a throttle pedal. Yea I know, the insurance companies make them do it! Bla Bla Bla, as speed limits keep getting increased and trucks keep getting governed down slower and slower at what point do we start seeing more wrecks and fatalities? Once again people that never drove a truck telling people that operate them how to do it safely!

    mje and pattyj Thank this.

The faster you go - the bigger the mess . . .

I have the same question. In some areas we are happy to get even close to 55! Now in the desert or Central Valley 55 is a tad slow.

Perhaps the truck drivers should be governing and regulating themselves. This way, no one else has to do it for them.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
