Say a person originally signs up for 11 west upon hire...but changes mind after solo & wants to do 48, is there a certain amount of time he has to wait to transfer over? guess something I should have asked recruiter but curious if you know? Thanks

Sorry blwjr...have questions come to mind & hope you don`t mind me asking you,
once finished with training & when being upgraded to own truck...is there equipment we have to buy from May..like king-pin/fifth wheel locks? load-locks? chains?
if so I assume they deduct weekly from check? & if so how much is each?

any inverter we want to install in truck has to be bought from them? & installed by them? or can we use & have shop install our own...say 400w inverter?
    appreciate your assistance!

The only thing that you hafta buy is the inverter. You gotta use the "approved" model and they gotta install it in your truck. That said, it couldn't be more painless: they deduct $25/week from your paycheck to cover it. Easy-peasy!
Then, when you switch trucks eventually, they quickly and cheerfully swap it out of the old truck to the new truck.

May covers chains, locks and load locks. You won't need a kingpin lock.

I seem to recall it being $225.00.
    It's a Tundra E2000.

Yes, guys run all those things that you mentioned, though in my (modest) experience, refridgerators don't like to run all night without starting the truck up in the middle of the night. At least that's the way it was for my trainer. I only run a Koolatron (heat exchanger), which works for my needs, and that runs off of 12v.

I use my inverter mainly for my coffee needs (electric kettle) and my toast needs (because toast seriously rocks!) plus I charge up my DVD player and laptop. Toast and decent coffee is about as elaborate as I get.

I do the same. 12 v cooler and a coffee maker. Gotta have the fresh coffee in the morning.

Cooler runs all night but if I run the bunk heater I have to idle to make the coffee. Coffee maker uses about 750 watts. 10 minutes and it's done. About 1 snooze on the alarm.

seam: agree with you on the "toast"...man specially w lots of butter!! yea a reg fridge may not be the best option without an apu,
I did some brief research on those koolatrons last night...whats your(or others) honest opinion as far as cooling on them? is this the best recommended brand on market as opposed to say coleman?
spsdly cools 40 degrees below outside ambient temps.. but in your opinion if in hot weather how well will it keep things cold?, running the cooler alone all night wont kill the battery?
yea I seen a similar one of those cig lighter 3 way splitters when I was at wallymart yesterday,

would I be allowed(w/out perm installation) to use my own 400w inverter that plugs into cig lighter?(realizing I`m only gonna get about 150w thru lighter)

I am largely satisfied with the Koolatron. Santa gave it to me, so I can't complain. A refridgerator it is not, but it keeps my bottled water, soft drinks, milk and butter acceptably cold.

As as far as "plug-in" inverters, the answer is no. It even states that in the manual ("up to and including termination"), but what is only plugged into a (fused) cigarette lighter is probably not what they're concerned about. Probably.

But if they install a good one and deduct only $25/week for nine weeks, why mess around? I realize that, signing on a new driver, you most likely are pinching pennies, but after a couple months, you'll be back to solvency. (Or, at least that's the way it worked out for me)
