I already had a passport and got the twic/haz (such a scam, same gov. contractor runs the backgrounds for both, but you have to pay separately even if you do them at the same time) when I got my license, thought it would help me get employed, turned out Watkins Shepard doesn't require either (unless you run Canada, then passport is needed).
Is Melton really as bad as everyone says?

I wouldn't knock TMC off the list. Better hometime equipment and money. Percentage is the way to go. Melton is to much like arrow if you ask me.

We were also told it's not a requirement to have all 3. Just that if you DO get all 3 (already have TWIC thanks to current company) you get a $1,000 bonus.

Ms UGA,
Perhaps your other half would do better at a smaller company.
Get away from from those DAC abusers.... -
Is Melton considered a "smaller" company. :\
1,000 trucks doesn't seem too small but they seem to be better overall than where he is now. The only thing we don't like is the 2 weeks out (he's currently regional and home weekends but very low miles lately). -

Melton seems together a classy company...

They are a good company to work for. I have no complaints and ran plenty of miles as long as you prove to your DM that you want and can run the. Yes they do have orientation at the Masury, OH terminal but you had better pay attention to what your taught if you've never run skatboards. Only down side is you will be constantly looking over your shoulder with the blue knights and some of the million milers because if you do something wrong, not many will help you correct the mistake but rather just turn you in and you end up getting wrote up. I was let go due to an accident in NYC which wasn't my fault (car cut me off) but had to let me go because of it being rear end in nature but the cool part is they listed it as a non preventable on my DAC and my MVR is still spotless. I've moved on to greener pastures though working for a 7 truck outfit working on buying my own to lease on and making plenty being home every other night most of the time. Melton is a good place and they will teach you how to do it right and someone is always a phone call away to help if no other driver is there when your having trouble and they don't mind. A lot of flatbed drivers short cut doing things but I still use the methods I learned there. On one last note, with melton, you'll either learn how to tarp or you won't because 95% of what they haul is tarped and you will get tired of it but if you unload and reload the same day and do it all week you'll bring home a nice check.

I don't think I would go with TMC. Can't tell you how many of their drivers have come up to me asking about Melton and complaining about TMC with their BS and slow trucks saying all that chrome isn't what its cracked up to be. @polarbear, they are nothing like Arrow. In fact they have little to no debt.
