    It's based on your experience.

they go to canada , as a matter of fact its more cpm if you do. your just going to have to talk to a recruiter and see if your in the hiring area if so you will get home, which is kinda all that matters anyways

We have a few guys that live in the Seattle area. I personally have delivered up there numerous times. Most loads coming out are Genie or aluminum up from Ferndale. Your area is a minimum 3-4 weeks out though.

I'm looking at buying a "retired" Melton truck, and would like to know how well they take care of their equipment? I would like the drivers point of view, do they service/repair their trucks regularly? If its not a corprate secret what is their service schedule? I know the Cummins are set at 435 hp, but does anybody know or can you find out if they are tier 1 or tier 2?

I just did orientation a month ago. We had one guy that had no flatbed experience that went out with a trainer for a few days. You might be able to request it, not sure. I was in Birmingham, AL for orientation and didn't get the 50.00 gift card, but I did get the 160.00 on Thursday in cash. I seen starting pay anywhere from .36pm to .41pm (top starting pay). It just depended on experience.

After orientation most of us had to go to Tulsa to get our trucks. I drove a retired truck with two trailers to Tulsa with another guy, the rest were put on a plane. I was there first :)

Other than the home time, I really like it here. I complain about the home time only because for the last year, I've been home every weekend and sometimes more. I'll get used to it.

Now, my brother in law worked for TMC for 7 years. Loved it for 6 of them. Then his pay went to crap, he had to switch to mileage pay to make anything. Then he just eventually left so he could actually support his family after changing from weekly home time to monthly and still not being able to pay his bills. But hey, them 62mph trucks sure do look nice....

Oh, and all the guys from my orientation class that went to Tulsa to get trucks got brand new 2013 KW's. Mine had 33 miles on it. No complaints here.

I've talked to Melton drivers at truck stops since I am thinkingh about going over to them, below is what I have learned. Not one drive I have talk to said anything bad about Melton and I have talked to four of them.

    1) Decent pay
    2) good benifits
    3) you don't tarp everything like some flatbed companies but you will tarp.
    4) all 48 and Canada. You get paid to go into Canada, you get paid to tarp. Not every company will pay you for this.
    5) You get one day off for every week worked and it carries over if you don't use all your days off, thats GREAT!!! nobody does that.
    6) good terminals, weight rooms and they stress being healthy.

Call up with you questions and ask what you want to know, then go to a truck stop and ask the drivers of Melton, do your homework and get the answers from the drivers, not this forum.
