Sure thing , just follow the thread I am trying to be diligent and keep it up for a few months .

I feel weird talking about the guy that left , I am going to say make sure you are eligible to work here with the stuff that melton ask's you for the prehire requirement's. If you are not you may not finish orientation. Sorry about not talking about other peoples personal business but I don't think its necessary. Melton has a list of things they ask you and will tell you if you can work here or not depending on your answers ( basic stuff as far as I am concerned )

Azcannon, no sir didn't mean to pry, just thought work might have scared him off. Hope the driver finds himself work somewhere.

DC10boy, the road calls some, and calls some back. I was OTR for several years, did the local thing for about 9 years, but the blacktop will call you back. If its in you.... Well, you can't do nothing but do it.

I WISH I had a tarp that weighed 80lbs. There is no way my big 8ft drop lumber tarps weigh only 80 pounds, or I just could be a puss...lol

Day 2 done, another driver down

started with 4 ended with 3 , same thing as first guy just slightly different problem.

Classroom stuff first half ( smith driving ), then went over a class on securement sort of a once over how - to for basic loads coils, pipe, plate steel
then I had a fricken awesome vegetarian Taco salad with I think barb-q sauce for lunch
then we did some more flatbed class scenario's
and thennnn we removed a bunch of chains/straps and re-chain/ strapped the coils.

fairly uneventful 2nd day- still happy with everything, feel really good about my decision and loved the part of actually binding /strapping the loads instead of pulling down a roll up or slamming a few doors.

A lot of guys say this is really hard work , I guess if you have never " labored " in your life it probably is , I have worked way way way way harder than this , and without mocking anybody that says different I will say its a joke. Its kinda weird you don't get paid anything for binding/strapping but whatever thats the way it is - you do get 40.00 for tarping which is extremely wind dependant on how hard it is.

I can't wait to be done with all this and just be working ,the orientation and training last 3 weeks for me since I havent been otr before, its less for people that have , then it will be approximately 30-60 days of learning the ropes as a flatbedder making money and learning efficiency but after that its going to be good times.

almost forgot , everyone is worried online about the tarps and picking them up , they should also think about the binders , we use the yellow safety binders and they are easy to release but take a little heft to pull down , I can easily do them because I am heavy but others who are light in the ### ( glutimos maxximmus ) department really seem to struggle such as the office ladies who came out to watch ( could not have done it ) and anybody under 125 lbs is going to be challenged with them.

I need to ask if anyone on here can answer a question. I am going to orientation Monday the 22nd. I need to know if floating the gears on the driving test will fail you, because I have never double clutched I have give it a try every now and then but it just makes more noise than I want to hear. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks and safe driving.
