whelp I am starting orientation on monday the 15th , started looking for a good over the road company a month ago .
I have been very lucky to get a good referral from a member here to Melton , when I called I was very pleased with my recruiter who did her job well and followed through with all my questions and has been very straightforward with me through the whole process , I worked through my two week notice with my old job and did all my home stuff to get it ready to be left for a long long time lol ( until this lease is up anyways ) moved my guns to my family house and all that other good stuff so I don't have to worry about being robbed too much. and packed , then repacked cause of not enough room and now I think I have what I need for a few weeks til I get back to get the stuff I want to have along solo. I have 4 day's of orientation then 2 weeks of training and then I will finally get to know what otr is all about , really looking forward to it.

I have been statewide and metro-phoenix here in arizona for almost 3 years in a 3 axle daycab pulling a 48 and really feel like the transition is going to be easy .Previously I have worked out of town for summers and a couple 18 month spans over the last 18 years before driving so I am no stranger to being away from home. I just turned 39, and wish I started Driving at 25 or 30 instead of 36.

I will update this thread a little here and there to give people a recent idea of what a new hire's first impression of Melton is like , most of the ones I have found are from a few years ago and they are good and bad and very driver personality specific in my opinion . If anyone has a Specific question about Melton feel free to P.M. me as I will pm them back a response . I really don't want to make a personal thread , I prefer factual and straightforward - I have a hard time making a opinion about possible Trucking companies with all the personal stuff people interject in their threads, they can do what they want I just would like to be simple and to the point.

p.s. any melton employees/board members that feel like saying hi please feel free, I am pretty sociable and always glad to hang out and have a cup of coffee if Time is permitting. adfdsaf.jpg

checked into hotel , long bus ride but not bad at all , nice hotel , half off coupon for dinner at the restaurant/bar !! will add more later

You stay at a very nice hotel, Park Inn ,supposed to have a roomate but mine never showed up maybe he will tonight. I havent rode a bus for 20 years , this one rattled and vibrated a lot and there was some back of the bus drama at one point but not my problem because I dont get involved in that stuff. All in all I have to say not a big deal and I won't be opposed to riding the bus again if I ever have to . Something I thought was funny was the hotel shuttle driver that picked us up knew A LOT about melton , from the paperwork at the front desk to when we needed to be out front , also about the physical in the a.m. He mentioned he had taken a lot of drivers back to the bus stop - kind of disconcerning but oh well.

I should mention my orientation is in Tulsa and not in the other terminals , I can't say what the other terminals are like of course.

You say 5 showed up and 4 finished the day, not his cup of tea or the tarps scared him?
