u can go home whenever u want to if u have earned the days off, but with freight they way it is right now, dont expect to get home on time.

Ive been here goin on 2 years now and am still liking it. Right now im sitting for the weekend cuz they couldnt find me a load, i also see 3 other company trucks at the truckstop with me sitting. But what can you do? if i leave its gonna be the same situation somewhere else plus all the hassle of moving companies.

I like how they run it here and ive had 0 problems since day 1 so why go and try to screw it all up cuz the freight is slow.

It was just announced that we arent buying any new equipment next year, which kinda sucks since my truck is only 20k miles from me getting a brand new one :biggrin_255: but with the economy what can u do. Also there gonna wind down on hiring cuz apparently were getting a ridiculous amount of applications now with all the other companies folding and people in general looking for a job.

Kiss of death. Knowledge is power.

I did. My opinion was that she has some sort of issues and gives herself a bad name. Kind of ranting, but probably blowing off steam...I am a female and didn't find the guys post particularly insulting. But that's just me. And I haven't always had a CDL, I was a seatcover for a good while....

Just my $.02, please don't ban me....

Well, here's my $.02 worth. I ran for Melton for 9 months and left about a year and a half ago for a local job. Melton was an excellent company to work for. The equipment was in excellent condition and if you had a problem they fixed it. PERIOD. If you were out on the road hit a TA etc. and have them call it in. I never had a repair refused. Look at the pics at their website. They didn't clean up for the photos. It ALWAYS looks like that. It was my experience that people who were having problems with Melton weren't pulling their weight or doing their job. Just my observation.

I have completed my app, interview and talked w/recruiter & I am all set to start orientation in Mesquite, Tx on the 19th of January. I'm moving out to the Dallas area after the first of the year and they seemed like the best company to go with (for me).

It's slow all over (but usually is anyway this time of year for flats'). I'm trying to stay positive about the company & the economy. I had interviewed and talked with several recruiters from other companies but I only got the "warm and fuzzies" from the Melton recruiters (Dana & Leslie).

Good luck and happy trails everyone!

    Good luck to ya man.

I have said it over and over, they aren't a bad company, I just sat too much with them. I ran out of the Dallas Terminal (sunnyvale) as well. It wasn't a bad place at all but if I am going to miss my daughter growing up, it needs to be for enough money I can save some of it to put her through college one day.

Things may pick up, I wasn't a disgruntled driver, just sat too much for my taste.

They are among the top 20 companys to work for 2nd year in a row,to me that says a lot about them since the employees are the ones who do the voting.I'm kicking myself for not going with them when I had the chance.

I don't know what Melton you worked for try 15 to tarp and 15 to untarp. and you get 1 day for every week your out, and if you want to come home every two weeks don't count on it. and if you need to be home on a certain day once again don't count on it. layover nah they'll deadhead you somewhere to stop that and detention dont spend it before you get it.

When did you work for them ..?

When we worked for them in 08 it was $20 to tarp & $20 to untarp. Yeah it was 1 day for every 7 like most other companies. We got layover, detention and breakdown pay....

I guess things have changed since then..not surprising.
