Hello Everyone,
Background:
I graduated from my 330 hour driving school program on 07/29 and went and passed my DMV appointment on 8/05 (TWIC, Passport, Hazmat Endorsement in hand). I am 21 years old, clean driving record, average health. I am located in Cool, CA (45 minutes roughly north of Sacramento, CA). So, I am also in the hiring range for Melton Truck Lines.
How I got here:
I did a lot of research and talked with a lot of recruiters and have decided I would really like to make my home with Melton Truck Lines I have had a really tough time actually communicating with recruiters from other companies, my Melton experience has been very warm and a breath of fresh air. Their level of communication during the hiring process has been terrific and very transparent and I hope that communication boils over into their driver support team (DM's, etc.).
Where I am in the hiring process:
I have been assigned with a recruiter already through all the interview stuff, I believe they were processing my job history today and into next week. Supposedly, this weekend or early next week I should be working on the rest of the hiring process you go through prior to orientation (conditional employment offer, etc.). My tentative orientation date based on all my information checking out is August 19, 2013 in Tulsa, OK.
Why I made this thread:
I see most of the threads about Melton Truck Lines are fairly dated and I decided I would like to chronicle my experiences over the next couple months so others interested in Melton can get a glimpse of my experience with them. I will try to update this thread from this point forward with anything significant that goes on between myself and Melton Truck Lines.
Hope there is interest,
Scott Johnson

welcome to the wonderful world of professional drivers Scott read and research all you can because you will hear the good the bad and the very ugly about every company..most importantly pay attention during training & if unsure about something ask questions remember all unasked questions will go unanswered no such thing as a stupid/dumb question.....wish you the best.......jerseyguy

Sounds pretty good Scotty Johnson. I'm thinking about going on with Melton myself and just like you, I too am a little leary about going to one of the MEGA carriers. Too much gray area out there, but hey it's like that wherever you go I guess. I look forward to the rest of your threads so keep it up.

Fortunately, we are not a MEGA carrier..........YET. But it seems like they are trying their damndest to make it that way....

Not about Melton Noggin, I was talking more on the SWIFT, SCHNEIDER, and JB HUNT side of things. You have to start somewhere I just wouldn't want to go that route.
