Are the trucks manual or auto, not a big fan of auto. I've been talking to a recruiter for a couple of days. I like to make up my mind by weeks end. Just wondering on the tranny.

On my second load. This one is flat steel. Took forever to secure and tarp. But that is because I have to think about everything I do. Nothing unsafe, but little errors that bug me. Pushed the heat and humidity down in 'Bama which is catching up with me today. Stopped with 2 hrs left, but was concerned about parking. At rest area anyway.
Don't mean to sound negative because I really enjoy the thinking involved and the equipment and people are all top notch in my experience. Like most things, i want to be at a high level and need some time to get there.
The newer trucks are 10 spd and my Cummins pulls to beat the band. Hauling a 70660 load through AL,TN, KY and IL and avg 7.3 mpg spending most of my time in 60-65 range. -
Noggin Thanks this.

On my third load. Dead headed from Dubuque to Danville, IN. Bunch of Melton trucks were also there picking up elevator equipment. Lots of boxes/crates and other assorted sized stuff. Had a handle on the securement part, but the tarping was a bear. Had an Ambassador give me guidance and some assistance or I might still be there. Thank you Roger!
Easy travel over the weekend with a stop at a Wally World to resupply for the week and pick up some items to make life on the road a bit better.
Concerned a bit about the delivery since it is in Arlington, VA @ 1000. I'm about 2 hrs out, but I have to navigate the SW section of the belt way which I know can become a parking lot, especially Mondays. Can't be too early (construction site w/ no parking. The time may mean I will be on the backside of rush hour, but this is DC! Hope some of the other trucks show up here that are gong to the same place to see what they think.
Enjoying it all. Learning curve is pretty steep with no two loads being similar. Hands are sore from rolling tarps and pulling bungies, but that is it. Looking forward to cooler weather for this skinny guy that melts instead of sweating! -
Hope everything is going good... Haven't heard any updates lately

Volorange,
Things are going pretty good. The are keeping me moving and I'm getting the QC items. I am struggling with securement on occasion, but a call to my mentor solves those. Biggest issue is I am slower than snot. That will come with time. Heat has been tough, but water and Gatoraid are my friends. Overall, I am pretty geeked about all aspects. Great company with lots of support. My DM is great! -
That's good to hear, glad your getting the miles. I'm heading to school in a few weeks and I have 3 companies on my list. Melton,Maverick and TMC.
Thanks for the update -
Don't forget you can call me too. I'll have nothing to do for the next 4-6 weeks! -
I've got your number. Don't take this wrong, but if I can't get my mentor your my life line. I am really impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone in the company has been. Got wrapped and the axle about not being able to make load based on the timing and the on after hours had me unspun in about 15 sec.
Been out for 2 weeks and looking at home in another 4.
