I am not sure exactly why but Melton has a lot of services to make living on the road easier. They have a personal trainer come talk to the students about how to eat healthier on the road. They have people that will call around and find a good plumber/ electrician for a home emergency if you're on the road and your family can't do it.

I'm guessing more time learning the Smith System, Securing, & Melton's Company ways. When you start driving you'll figure out who's securing the bare minimum and who is securing their loads to be sure they are safe. Melton like most of the big flatbed companies require more then just "legal" securement.

I meant overall as a company. But if you check the schneider website, they offer flatbed services.

Many of us can only comment on Melton hmsailer since we haven't driven for sni. I will say this though, if you want flatbed try Melton if you want van or tank give sni a shot. In this case since Melton and sni are 2 different types of hauling it comes down to really what you want.

I did not know that! Intertesting.

Anyway, ditto on what flatbedn said. When comparing companies, compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Comparing a flatbed company to a van company or a tanker company isn't fair to you since they really are different animals. The base cpm rates are typically different because of the different work and additionals (tarp pay, load/unload pay, detention, etc.) can be vastly different for different freight types.

Ok so I have to ask, checking out Melton's facebook page there are some postings from people rating the company and after reading them then doing some research on their pages its obvious who is BSing and who was a problem driver. However one thing stood out for me was that one poster asked how come Melton recruiters didnt inform potential drivers that Melton is a 1099 company.

I am a driver for Melton and can tell you I am a W2 employee. Melton does NOT have a lease purchase. Only an o/o would get a 1099 from Melton.

    Yeah makes sense. A co driver gets a w2. While a o/o gets a 1099 because he/she considered a contractor
