Good company but I think you'll average less miles per week there 2200-2500 roughly but at any rate much success to you there.

 

I met a driver in Marshfield that left Melton to come to Roehl. He said the miles at Melton were horrible and a lot of waiting for PP.

 

I work for Melton and I have kept an honest log on my miles. Keep in mind I have been home 8-10 days in the last month. I've been to Florida and my buddy just delivered and picked up in Ocala on Friday.

Flatbed freight customers may have an appt but most are first come. I deliver ASAP and unless I empty out when the planners aren't in, I have had a load within 60 mins. Good luck with your decision.

 

2200-2500 is fairly accurate for slow weeks, but I've had as many weeks at 3500 as I've had at 2000. Just rolls a bit depending on where you are and what freight is like. 2500 is probably a safe average week for me, and we'll see how much that goes up with the flatbed "busy season" starting to bloom. Also remember that as you're starting out and adjusting to the work, it might take you longer to secure and tarp than other guys and you might spend time doing that which you could otherwise use to drive. As you get faster, you'll see better miles since you'll have more time to drive.

Don't forget to factor in that you get paid $40 for tarped loads (20 to tarp, 20 to untarp). 3 tarped loads in a week is an extra $120 on your pre-tax, which is like driving an extra 200-300 miles. I've never had any issue with getting detention, either. Just do your macros and fax any paperwork if the instructions for detention say to.

 

Orientation is not bad. Keep in mind if you have a big orientation group it will be 10 people. They have some autos not many. If you ended up with one, I'm sure a calm conversation will get you into a manual. Just be on time for the van in the morning. There's always that one guy lol.
