They said literally the exact same thing to me, that my following distance was 1 or 2 seconds. He told me to estimate my average distance in feet, and I totally underestimated... I said 150 feet when in reality, once I started paying attention, it's more like 450 feet when I can help it. But I stopped at a light that turned yellow on me when someone was in the intersection on the other side, getting ready to turn left. Had an empty trailer and tractor brakes that I just found out that second were out of adjustment. I started telling Kevin (that guy has always treated me like dog #### as it is, I don't know why... he's just so rude and hostile all the time) what happened and he literally rolled his eyes. I told him I didn't even know why it was a "hard braking incident" since it was a gradual stop, not slamming on the brakes and I didn't set off the camera and he got a smart-### attitude with me and stomped off like a child. Total lack of respect from that guy. I should have said #### it and blown through the yellow, maybe hit someone in the process... but at least the computer wouldn't tell Kevin I did something bad, right?

This happened to me in North Carolina delivering frame rails to Freightliner I don't have a camera but he sent me Mac asking if everything is alright I reply two him well since you asked I am a little tired since the thermal King Inverter started beeping at 2 AM had to call outside repair to get a jump so I can make my delivery on time as for the head break I overreacted to a yellow light guess I should've just blown through it like the car next to me never heard another thing out of them

Yep I've had 3 hard breaking ones. Twice first stop sign after getting empty and wasn't used to it and second a truck pulled in front. Kevin never gave me trouble, even when I lost a tarp and it blew off into a guys pool.

Their wkend dispatch was a joke when i was there..and my dm was an absolute idiot!!! When i asked for a different one they told me to give him a little longer .. he had no idea of what a driver did...

Barring a miracle in Birmingham, I'm taking this thing back to the terminal on Monday and turning in the keys. The past two weeks here have been the most utterly confounding load of BS I've yet suffered in my young life, and I just don't think I'm willing to keep putting up with it. Melton isn't a terrible company, it just doesn't look like it's the company for me. I really hate walking out on a place without at least giving them a year, but I just can't tolerate it any longer.

Among my grievances:

Safety is run by a bunch of clowns. Safety people are bad everywhere, sure, but it's pretty bad when I'd have to drive unsafely and/or lie to them in order for them to think I'm a safe, honest driver. Maybe I'll tell that story in another post.

Wanda is a ####. I wish I could think of another word that wouldn't be filtered to describe her, but even that word doesn't do her proper justice.

If you upset someone, expect to live in the Northeast. I said last time I went there that I'd quit before I ever drove through NYC again, and I guess I pissed someone off, because here's a load going to Long Island. Isn't it bad enough that I have to sit empty in a truck stop for 4 days before I can get it? I don't care who died today, that's unacceptable.

No positive reinforcement. I've always found that positive reinforcement works best. Kind of like preventative maintenance on a vehicle. Let someone know they're doing well. Or hell, even thank someone who goes the extra mile. But I bust my hump to get stuff done and get not a word of thanks. But one screw-up, see the above point. I drive two straight years 100% safe following some rookie mistakes in my first 6 months of driving, but one "hard braking incident" that wasn't even a hard braking incident, and I'm getting yelled at and lectured about following people too closely because obviously, I wasn't telling the truth about what happened and must have been riding someone's ###.

All of the positive things I've said about these guys still holds true. The work is good. Miles are good. Pay is good. The people, for the most part, are excellent folks. My complaints are minimal, and small complaints. Today just happens to be the day that the camel's back broke. I wish it hadn't, because I like Melton a lot. But I guess if it isn't for me, it was only a matter of time before all the little negatives outweighed the positives.
