MPG def varies, but melton hauls similar freght to tmc so they will be in the ball park. Obviosly maintenance depends on the company...which is why i was asking. Nice thing is melton provides full maintenance records. As for tires, the one im looking at has 315 miles on it. But, Ill prob take the tires off m truck and put them on that one, and put the worse tires on my truck since it prob wont drive as much as the new one.

I'm in a 2012 T660 with melton. 220k on it. I've been to KW 1 time since i started in july of last year and that was for a DEF sensor that went out. oil changes are at 30k miles, I've been tracking fuel mileage for just a couple weeks now and im at 7.1 MPG and thats running all 48 with too many types of freight to list. i spend most of my time in 10th gear at 65. we are governed at 65MPH. fixed 5th wheels on our trucks in case you didnt know.

Thanks, I did know about the fixed 5th. If you have 34,000 on your drives, how heavy are you on your steers? Is the fixed position seem to be the right spot?

I've met plenty of Melton drivers and so far all their trucks are clean and the drivers I've talked to like them. I know some of their trucks have been sitting for a while waiting to get sold up in tulsa and you can get a heck of a deal, but many are Auto. If you decide to get one and just change oil every 10-15k you shouldn't have any issue. Anything build before early 2011 dont need Def, Most of their trucks Have isx with apu which is good thing.

Last load I did was 33k on drives and 11,200 on steers. These are setup just right.

They dont have any auto trans for sale currently. They have 2010's for sale and i'm pretty sure they do use def. I'll need to double check. I thought 2010 with 09 motor didn't have def, but 2010 with 2010 motor did.

I ran with a guy a few months back that was in a 2010 I believe and I don't recall seeing a def tank. Those have the stacks too where as our newer ones have have grass burners. I like the grass burner since it gives us a full length tarp tray on top of the chain rack.

And as richter pointed out, I spoke with Jason in sales dept the other day and there are no autos for sale at this time.

We still have a few autos but not near as many as we do 10 speeds.

    i'd prefer an Auto,

Both the same price, its between a X Mavrivck FL Cascadia, dd15, 2.64 rears, 10 speed manual ultrashift. (no headache rack, sidebox or apu)

    OR

X melton T660, Cummings, 2.64 rear, direct 10 manual. (head ach rack, side box and au included)

I like the freghtliner, the detroit, and the ultrashift, but the melton is flatbed ready and a few less miles. The Apu is worth a bit to and the t660 will prob have higher resale. If the melton is pre DEF it certainly has regen. Regen was problematic in the years before DEF fluid. I really do want an auto with a Detroit, but the Melton seems like a better deal.
