I don't go out of route much, you can usually see walmart from the interstate! We are allowed to go out of route if our load takes us within 100 miles of the house, which rarely happens for me, as long as we aren't late for delivery. That's like $125 in fuel! Pretty generous of Melton for letting us do that in my opinion.

After delivery, I wait on the customers property if they allow it and they aren't busy. If not, head to the closest truck stop and wait there.

most walmarts are right by interstate or when driving on highways itll be not far, may even be in the direction you are going. i usually stop at one if i know im going to hit one on the way, to cut down on out of route miles.

after dropping off i wait at cons if they allow it or have room, if not at a truck stop. ive driven as far as 50 miles to a truck stop because that was the closest thing around and consignee had zero room

usually ask my dm when something like that happens, they usually say go ahead. have not been told no

Well, 1st day of orientation is done. Lots of paper work, presentations, powerpoint, quizzes on what you learned, DOT physical, pee and hair follicle drug screen. Road testing...first time driving a 53' flatbed loaded with those concrete median dividers...wasn't to bad @ all. Felt good to be behind the wheel after a week off. Backing with the spread axle wasn't bad either.

Tomorrow is load securement training and more videos I'm sure...so far so good ;)

    Safe travels!

    Mrh2008 Thanks this.
