Hello all, I have been talking to a Melton recruiter, and was informing him of having shoulder surgery on both shoulders. He proceeded to ask what the surgery was for, and e-mailed him back the response. The reason I had surgery was to remove the ac joint on both shoulders because I have no cartilage, this was to give my rotator cuff space to move without pain. After sending this e-mail, I have not received anything back from him and have not been able to get any response from him. Should I try to contact another recruiter from the company, or just chalk it up as I'm not meant to work for Melton? My doctor will sign a release and everything, just think it's pretty unprofessional for a recruiter to just drop all contact like that.

Brother, I hate to tell ya but flatbed work can be very physically demanding. It never hurts to call (they are probably waiting on a decision) but with such a surgery, I wouldn't expect a positive outcome. With said surgery, it makes you a high risk for injury. You are probably going to get better results in reefer or dry van. Hell, maybe even being a tanker yanker as there's not much required. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what my options are with Melton. I'm just wanting to do flatbed for the hard work, but I agree the shoulder surgeries put me at a disadvantage. If I can't go into flatbed initially, will do my time pulling a dryvan/reefer and then give flatbedding another shot.

I would call and talk to someone about it, however, I don't think the outcome is going to be in your favor, maybe it will. One of the most common injuries for flatbed drivers involve rotator cuffs. All the pulling, pushing, lifting and climbing that we do really wares you out. Also, Melton's short/long term disability is paid by them, out of pocktet. Self insured. They don't want to see you get injured just as much as they don't want to pay for the injury.

Thanks, yeah, that's a pretty common injury for Soldiers as well. I'm hoping that things work out to where I can drive for Melton.
