Does Melton require steel toe or reinforced toe boots or shoes once arriving at orientation? At the cost of a good durable pair these days, want to buy one pair of boots but prefer non reinforced if it were not a requirement. Thanks.

Ask a recruiter? I'd get whatever boots you want and then get a pair of those removable caps you can easily slip on and off.

    That would be metatarsal guards.
If Melton does not have the "steel toe" rule...I would buy some any way, because you will be picking up and delivering to companies that might require them. I have never been required to have metatarsal guards. Steel toed boots will get you by. Get a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest too (if Melton does not supply them), unless you don't mind using "loners" that every Tom. Dick, and Harry has sweated in.

i am a rookie skateboarder myself. when it comes to clothing all i can say is walmart, walmart, walmart. they have long lasting work boots that keep your feet fairly dry for under 50 bucks. just put some gel insoles in them and you should be okay. their rustler jeans are less than 11 bucks, they are great during dry weather but get a little heavy when they get wet. oh, and as a flatbedder, you will go through a pair a gloves at least once a month it doesnt matter how much you pay for them, i just get several pair of cheap leather gloves, mechanic gloves are nice when you are dealing with bungees and good for dexterity but again, they are expensive and gloves don't last long for a skateboarder. this time of year, you will need thermals, a good skull cap or face mask, but your jacket should not be that heavy, you will generate a lot of heat climbing up and down your load, straping, chaining, and tarping.
