is there anyone that runs for them. on here. and how are they.
now I don't want to here from the drive that wants to run by the dot book or from the driver that turns down loads. just want to hear from the hard working drivers. please.
I leave for OR on the 5th of Jan. is there any reason I should not go. thanks Cowboy

LOL, if you wanna be a ###### that runs 20 hours a day to suck up to dispatch, you're looking at the wrong place. Everytime you go to ANY of their terminals they have a log book guy. He will bounce your last weeks logs off the Q comm and Comdata. Be the one to not be dead on.

You have no choice but to run legal at Melton (when there is freight to run that is).

it's just I've read on here where a guy was b-tching about having to run hard. my logs have never been a problem. well maybe once or twice but not aften. I just want to make a living for my faimly. that is all. need to make at least 750.00 a week.

I have a close friend who works at Melton and he loves it.

They aren't real picky like the other guy has stated about the logs according to him.

And he stays busy running. People say there isn't work but it talk with him just about everyday and he is running a load.

I drove for Melton and they are not a bad outfit to drive for. They are strict on the logbooks and will not hesitate to fire you on the spot. Not me, but I have personally seen them do it to drivers.

At the time I got hired, they were the best paying for someone with six months experience and tarp pay. There equipment is top notch and they claim to not haul cheap freight. The only thing I can say is, try avoiding the Laredo yard or if you do. Make sure your there in the beginning of the week., otherwise you will sit the weekend there.

Well, my information is first hand since I worked there for a while so I am pretty sure it's accurate :biggrin_25525:

If you go to a yard, ANY Melton yard, you will not leave until you are cleared by logs period. They won't put you on the board until you have been through there and made sure your stuff was on point.

I never had an issue at all making a delivery ontime legally with them however. They tend to dispatch you with plenty of time unless you are lazy.

The only reason I left is they just couldn't keep me running. I like to work while I'm gone and that's it, not baby sit a truck. I never had a problem getting loaded out of Larado although they weren't usually good runs but there were many times I would sit an entire weekend in a truck stop because they "didn't have anything in my area" when I got unloaded at 730-800 on a Friday morning.

Equipment was great though as were the terminals. I just make more money hauling for the oil field because the money just wasn't there while I was with them. Had the money been there I would still be there because I liked everything else about them.

Granted, some people had better luck than me, it all depends on your FM just like everywhere else. The problem with Meltons FM's are your truck is assigned to a fleet so if you want to change FM's, you have to go to a yard, clean out your truck, get into another one and try again. Makes it a bit of a PITA and you may not end up any better off.

All in all, not a bad company as long as you get a good dispatcher but if you end up on Fleet 17, may god have mercy on your soul lol. I believe my fleet had the highest turnover rate of the company.

    happypappy25 Thanks this.

well i have a buddy that works for melton and i am starting with tmc and they both are hard on the logs. I never heard of him having to pass a log inspection at a terminal but i will find out. TMC just checks your logs and no news is good news :biggrin_25526:
