Well, class is finished. Had a great time and Learned a lot. Now for 3 days of orientation. 3 out of the 10 of us still dont have trainers assigned, sadly I'm one of them. Was really hoping to get started asap. I don't like sitting around waiting on an unknown future.

Question about medical: besides blue cross, what other providers are being used out there for single individual coverage? Being 50, I don't like going to long without coverage. I don't want to say that what Millis offers is bad... But it's certainly not what I'm use to.

I dont know if they still do it but NC had a individual health plan pretty cheap.

Well, I made it through training. Had 2 great trainers that taught me tons but with opposite styles. Got my truck, a T700 #2069 . Got home finally... Had not been home since I left with my trainer 7weeks ago. Got it all loaded up with goodies and groceries. Hitting the go button Tomorrow morning.

Thank you all that post here. It was reading through all the posts that put the final touches on my research. I'm not one to post often, but I'll check back as much as I can (and my phone allows)

Was being out that long without being home for at least a reset or something by choice? I know Alice told me training would be 5-8 weeks and they would try to get you home for at least resets or hometime same time as your trainer. I think 7 weeks not checking in on the house, wife and lil guy would be rough, even if it just would be a day or less.

I guess sarcrfices to do something you want to do huh.

Not speaking for Aneddy but some will depend on where your trainer lives. They try to get you someone close by, but if you are in Wis. and your trainer is in GA. for example, can be hard to get you home for hometime when he takes it. Plus he then has to get back up there to pick you up again. Can also be how close you are to a terminal and if you park a car at Richfield as an example since you are in Appleton.

I know during my training the first couple weeks got home four or five times for at least a 10, after that I didn't see home except once. Training can suck for getting home to see family but once you are on your own its alot better.

Sorry for the long delay in responding. db2681 is correct. I'm from NC, my trainers were from MI and WI. So, getting by the house was not impossible, but it would have been tough. I could have come home, but, I have no wife and my kids are grown. Staying out was hard, but I wanted to get that phase over as fast as possible.

On a side note... SAFETY FIRST!!!! After only 3wks in my own truck, I'm home for the next 6-8 weeks. Climbed up in the trailer to stow my bulkhead after delivering in Carterville IL. As I pulled myself up my right foot shot forward and my body went backward out of the trailer. The result... Spiral fracture of my left leg, severely sprained left wrist, and lots of nice cuts from the gravel I landed on. I'll be back as soon as I heal! Gravel dust between a rubber sole and a steel plate = ice skating. Not a great day, but spirits are high and I can't wait to get back. I was living the dream, loving my truck, watching the bank account grow... all now on hold. Huge thanks to Millis driver Jody, who started his hometime carting my ### to the ER, then came back in his pov to pick me up and take me back to my truck till my family arrived to bring me home. (yes, millis was going to put me in a motel till they could get me a ride home, but my family would not wait. they were in route to me 2hrs after I was out of the ER)
