Each company will have a different policy. You likely will have to complete so many days of service before being eligible to carry a passenger, and you may be charged for the extra insurance required.

You will also most likely have to send a fax of her drivers license too. I also carried my birth certificate, just in case.

...some companies may also make you and passenger fill out and sign a waiver to ensure the company's not liable for any mishaps. In other words, both you and passenger can travel together at your own risk.

Not all insurance companies can accommodate passengers. I know Acord does not allow ANY passengers. I switched to Canal because of this.

At a roadside inspection or weigh station inspection, be sure that the trooper WILL ask you for the insurance papers for your passenger.

And it is easier to haul a full load of cannabis through a port of entry than to have a minor with you.

And if you are a company driver, it gets worse. I suppose it depends on company policy, but you can consider yourself lucky if you can get a waiver from your company for a passenger. I know it sucks, but there is just not plenty of good news for carrying a passenger.

    Good luck, anyways!

You also have to have the permission paper from the carrier too for a passenger if I remember rightly. We were never bothered by scales, had pre-pass, and even in states like NY where they set up inspections in the rest areas. Some Rail yards you could go in, some you couldn't; this included places like Dow chemical in Mobile, AL, Michelin in AL. So plan on keeping you a little tote if you need to with water and snacks and a good book just in case. The worst place I was stuck at was out in the sun at a rail yard, SC, luckily it didn't take long.

Check with Millis. I spoke with a recruiter who said you can take a passenger after 90 days and it costs $15 per month.

Kevin, you will need to call Mark Byrns or Tammy Darge(Dar-gee) in our safety dept....let them know when you want to take her out...they will fax you a form(rider pass) to fill out.....you will then fax that form back and make sure you KEEP a copy in your possession while she is in the truck with you ( so DOT won't call her a co-driver)....also at that time you must purchase a $15.00 ins policy that it good for 30 days.
