Something I have noticed

Spending the past few months reading and educating myself I have noticed that there are tons of threads started here in the Millis section along with other companies saying I start on so and so day!!! Than have a few updates or some have many updates going through their training. Than it seems like a huge majority of them fall from the face of the forums. Is this from the huge turn over plague over taking the trucking industry? Or is that these students didn't actually make it to get hired on after training? Or is it just they mostly are out there busy racking up miles enjoying the job?

It just stood out in my mind reading here on how many of these kinds of posts/threads exist here. I am leaning towards majority just don't actually try hard enough to at least give it a try for a year and move on.

Thoughts? Experience from drivers who still post here since they started. I start with Millis tomorrow, I am not a job hopper, and I serious about making this my new career and I plan to be part of the Millis team for a very long time to come, I have a lot of drive and urge to succeed in this career. Not to mention having the responsibility of supplying the funds for your family! Not sure if at first I will be able to post here as much until I buy another lap top. Waiting until I am solo to spend the money on it.

Well not sure I will find the answer as to why all the others disappear from the forums, but you are right if you mean I will find out in a few months for myself.

On a board like this, it could very well be a recruiter talking up the trucking company, trying to lure others to do the same. Not saying this is the case here, but I know this happens on this board. There's a 200,000 driver deficit right now in the industry. It stands to reason that recruiters would use any trickery at their disposal to get attention for their company...

I can't really speak as no one from my class is still with the company nor did they post here. I post when I can if I can shut down at a decent time. Also not much to post other than where I am at or where I was. I can say miles are good right now. I've meet a few people from Mojo's class out here so they are still with the company, think I have meet mojo also.

You're not drinking that Kool-Aid are you? If this alleged "defecit" was remotely true would the value (remuneration) of drivers not have skyrocketed like the price of corn and soybeans? Would freight rates not be skyrocketing as shippers tried to outbid each other for these trucks that are in short demand?

Driver deficit my butt.

I didn't post the number out of thin air. Here's what I've read:

I remember being told that when CDL's were first used 20 years ago. The driver shortage never happened. There is always a reason " TRUCK DRIVERS WILL BE IN BIG DEMAND NEXT YEAR !"

. Same story over and over

. They need to keep the pipeline full of newbee's, so the schools make money,and the mega -carriers have cheap, new labor eager to work for peanuts.

If the industry was that short of professional freight re-locators, wages would be higher.If their were more trucks on the road now, rates would be much, much lower.

Have you been to a warehouse that couldn't close the doors because freight was spilling out? It should be with the driver deficit shouldn't it?

Makes sense. But also let's not forget that right now jobs for holders of CDL's are filling up the "Wanted" pages. This is indisputable. So while you, as well, may not agree that there's a shortage, one thing is for sure is that the trucking industry is one of the few industries hiring right now.
