From some of the threads I have read it sounds as if Millis is a great place to start. I'm from the Cincinnati Oh area and have been considering going to the Napier in Hamilton for my training. Seems like from what I read, Napier really wants their people to graduate and really focus on the pre trips. Then I come across Millis and have been intrigued from what I have read for the most part. I have so many questions but will start with this one since I have to leave for work here shortly.....Before reading about Millis, alot of what I have read while researching was how imporant it was to get the pre trip inpsection down pat so you could pass the CDL.When reading the Millis threads though I do not recall anyone mentioning the pre trip at all. When do they focus on this training? Is it in the 3 weeks classroom or mainly with your trainer out on the road? I am 51 and have no expierence driving manuel and really don't know much in the way of mechanics of a vehicle, so honestly learning this pre trip scares the you now what out of me and is probably the only thing holding me back.Any help would be appreciated.

You'll go over pretrip while in school and your trainer will/should have you go thru the routine everyday till you feel confident enough to pass it, not really something to worry about its pretty easy

Bill the instructor will go over it with you. He is an excellent and patient instructor. He will see that you get the pre-trip down. Good training all the way around,

    JPearson Thanks this.

Thanks jmorgn....I also thought i read somewhere that Millis class size is 10 or less which I would prefer rather then the 20 or so you may get at Napier, Did you go thru the training at Trenton and also do you get your choice of which training location to go to or do they place you where they need to fill up a class? I 'm probably 30 minutes or so from the Trenton site so that would work nice for me where I go just gohome and save the expenses of motels and meals.

I went through Trenton. There were 9 of us in class. We had a couple of Cincy guys in our class. You would go to Trenton.

I hate to say it - but not sure I can answer those questions related to what Millis will allow for prior violations. I will say this, the more violations you have the harder it will be for Millis to believe you wont have the same issues driving a truck that you did driving a car. I mean we all have had a ticket at some time(s) in our lives but if there are several - I doubt Millis will accept you. Best way to find out - is call the recruiting line and ask.

15 over in most states is considered a serious moving violation, its reckless op in some states as well. I believe is no more than 3 moving violations in the past 5 years. But as Baritone said you will need to call.

Great idea to start a forum specifically for this Baritone. I know that a lot of the potential students as well as ones currently enrolled in school with Millis will benefit from it.

This is correct. I'm in class now and we did pre-trips every day for a week straight. Came in early and bill had the truck in the shop and we went over everything we should know. And he went around with us and helped us with anything we missed or didn't say he wouldn't let us move onto another part of the truck / trailer. He will get ya to talk to him before the weeks out. It was a good learning experience.

Im in the class in trenton right now. Our class was suppose to have 9 in it but only 4 of us showed up. Bill said that happens everytime. People sign up but then never show up. They say class size is a max of 6. But as to that i cant say much. only 4 in ours. depends on how many people sign up and show up.
