My husband just finished the schooling in Richfield 2 weeks ago. He liked the instructor and is now out with his trainer. He was lucky and as given a great trainer, he says they get along great, both smokers and laid back. He stayed at the Super 8 motel, you need to get your learners permit for the 3 areas and the DOT physical. The first week you do classroom and then you start to learn to drive. Week 3 is driving on the highways. After that week you go back for three days of company orientation, and then you go with your trainer. My husband came home from Wednesday night till Monday. He will be gone anywhere from 5-8 weeks to get all his experience and do his skills test, and get his official license. He tells me he likes this company and schooling is glad he went with this company. This is the hard part being gone for so long but after that he can choose how long he is gone. We have never been apart for this length of time, when he was in school he could come home for weekends since we only live a hour away. If you have any questions let me know. Good Luck!!

My husband's been with the trainer for a week now, and will be with him for awhile. He's been to Pa., Ohio and today to New York and right now on his way to Mass. He keeps in touch with me daily, and he never knows where they will go till the dispatcher sends them the call. You stick with the trainer for 5-8 weeks till he feels you are ready to go alone, and after you take the road test. If you're not ready he can keep you longer. But once you go out with the trainer you start to get your pay.

I'm going for my physical and permit next week and hope to be starting with Millis sometime in March. Just not sure which location to go to. I can only pray that I get a trainer like your husband. I don't want to be with a slacker who is only interested in miles and not teaching. I've researched company after company after company and I've decided to go with Millis. Wasn't an easy decision to make for sure. I've talked to one of their ex-drivers (he'd still be there but he relocated and Millis doesn't run in his area). Said it was a great company, will get plenty of miles and the training was second to none. Wish me luck.

You take your physical on your own, my husband went to the occupational health at one of our hospitals and got the physical and the urine test for $59. The drs. office wanted $150. We heard that their trucks are no older than 3 years and when they hit 500,000 miles they are gone. So no matter how long your there you could get a newer truck no senority. Pay scale is after your training and your on your own it is about .27 per mile but then you get increases per miles you put on. If you go about 3000 it could be .31 or .32. Once you are with your trainer you get paid $500. for the first and second week and $50 a week, increase till you hit $750.00 a week. I don't know about reg. runs, my husband chose OTR and he can pick when he wants to be gone. He says he'll probaly stay out 10-12 days at a time. Have you looked at there website? Look at their training pay. We search alot of companies also abd this was the best in our area. My husband is glad he did. Best of luck hopefully get a good trainer also. The instructor, Harold at Richfield I heard from my husband is great.

We don't have the occupational health services at our local hosp. I had to find a private doc who is charging me $177.00 for physical, eye test, and urine test.

Actually I went by the terminal in Richfield and they have a sign out front that says DOT physical $75 bucks. I cant remember the amount for sure but the sign was there.

We checked with the office and they told my husband he had to get the physical himself, I don't know why that sign is there, unless its for the recertifications. All I know is that you should check around for the prices or ask around to get a better price. You can call the office and ask. I do know that the drug screen test was done in the 3 weeks classroom, buthe did have a regular urine test with the physical.
