A New Start Ahead: Starting My New Career with Millis

Week 1 Day 3: Coupling & Uncoupling practice & "The Millis 500" or "I didn't know just how uncoordinated I was!" Having never even been around a tractor and trailer rig, I have the UPMOST respect for those in the profession and what you have to do. I felt like a teenager learning to drive for the first time! Although the upshifting and downshifting got better as the day went by for everyone, we thought we might leave the trannys laying in the yard when we first got started. Greg and Jamie were both very patient and understanding with us and the tips they gave helped relax us to where it was getting easier...still have a ways to go though...right now...time for some Aleve for the sore left leg! Week 1 Day 4: A ride through the countryside...yep...went out on the road today...half the class...the other half stayed for backing practice! We drove mostly country roads, had some minor upgrades and downgrades, small towns to drive through and short interstate driving. All went pretty well for everyone. Still shifting issues for all, but it felt a little more comfortable today. Man that is a long vehicle when you make a turn...I think it grew in length from the time we left the yard...all in all a good day for all as we learned the group doing backing practice had good success too! Longer trip down south of here in the plan for next week! Classroom tomorrow...then heading home to see my wife for the weekend!!

 

Week 1 Day 5: Classroom today...week 1 is complete! A lot of information and activity! Hope everyone has a great and safe Easter weekend especially those of you out there on the road!

 

Week 2 Day 6: City driving in and around Marietta, GA...sharp turns, traffic...what you usually find in a town/city situation! Gotta head to bed...early 0 dark-thirty showtime...ROAD TRIP!!
