At 51 years of age, it seems crazy to be starting a new career. But a recent restructuring where I work has eliminated my position as of 3/31/14...sooo...here I am. I still need to work and not many companies are looking for 51 year olds who have been laid off. I live in South Georgia...not very far from the Florida line. Married 31 years and have three sons who graduated from Valdosta State University. Two are serving in the Air Force. The third recently got out of the Marine Corps and landed a great job in Augusta. With it just back to my wife and myself, we hoped our jobs would hold until retirement. Not the case! We decided my best alternative was to try to get into a CDL course with a school or company and start driving Commercial Vehicles. We both did our research and kept coming back to what Millis Transfer offers and the great things their drivers were saying about the company. I filled out my application, spoke with Raychel, who was very helpful, and a few days ago...secured a spot in the April 14th class in Cartersville, GA. D.O.T. physical is soon as well as taking the written test for my instructional permit...hope to be posting more updates....and keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks 77smartin! I believe so too! They seem be the best out there for anyone starting out and their trucks I've seen on the road are some of the best looking out there. It shows their driver's pride in their equipment and company!

Man, I am excited for you. I will be 52 in May and I am sick of corporate life. I would love to take the plunge that you're about to undertake. Good luck to you, brother.
