You may need to occasionally to call them to check up. The recruiters at Millis don't reek of desperation the way most recruiters do.

Argh! I don't think I've been both so excited and nervous about anything since I went on a date with that redhead! Seriously, I can't wait to get my start next week.

Day 1
Today was several false starts for me, but I eventually got there. I packed my stuff up and headed up there from Marietta at about 5:45 this morning. I'm staying with a friend who lives about a mile from the Cartersville terminal, and I got to his place to drop my things off at around 6:30. I really only had time to load out some things and then scoot. After having read the "Welcome to Millis" email I had been under the impression that I had to carpool with the people that were staying at the Holiday Inn.
Nope, I sure didn't.
I went there anyways, and met three of the other students. My mind drawing a blank now on their names. Anyhoo, a lady from the hotel came out to where we were and told us that Millis was having a tough time getting someone down there to get us and said that she was told to tell us to head there in our own vehicles.
The other three gentlemen rode together, and I headed off in my Firebird. Let me tell you, the way the on/off ramps are set up on exit 293 is incredibly confusing.
I eventually got there, the last one to class.
Today was the orientation class. There were supposed to be 14 people in the class but only 9 showed up. We spent most of the day filling out paperwork. After lunch, we discussed the qualifications for being a trucker, the history of Millis, and then discussed hours of service.
The poor guy sitting beside me got the brunt of Greg and Jamie's humor, since he said he had never backed up a truck.
Overall, it was a smooth first day. We'll see how tomorrow goes.Shake77 Thanks this. -
