Spoke to Alice on Monday, and she told me that my application has been accepted! I finished up with the first part of the deposit & got the email with all of the info & contracts. September 2nd class was filling up, so I scheduled my spot for the September 29th class. Figured it would give me time to get my CDL permit & DOT physical, as well as get the rest of the deposit together, being unemployed sucks!!!
I am on cloud 9 & glad for the opportunity to make this dream a reality. I'm always nervous about new things, but I know if I stay focused & do my best, I will succeed.
Any tips & pointers you guys might have would be greatly appreciated. Still can't believe that it's finally happening lol.

Take a flexible duffle bag, not a rigid suitcase, and fill it up with instant microwaveable foods such as oatmeal, Ramen Noodles, instant coffee, etc. Microwave use is free in hotels and truckstops. I always recommend this to new drivers if money is tight.

Luckily for the school portion of it I only live 26 miles away, so i'll be sleeping in my own bed lol. But that'll definitely come in handy once i'm on the road.Chinatown and Harleys4Life Thank this. -
I see you're in Ackworth. I have relatives near there. Here's a tidbit on my uncle that died in April:
"In 1993, the football field at North Cobb was named "Albert Matthews Field" in his honor. In 2006, he was among the first class to be inducted into the North Cobb Athletic Hall of Fame."Last edited: Aug 21, 2014

During WWII he served in the Navy as a coxswain running landing craft delivering Marines to the various islands in the Pacific while under heavy Japanese machine gun fire. Coxswain's casualty rates were very high. -
Awesome! I'm originally from Albuquerque, NM myself. Fell in love with it here & ended up staying. Glad that I did now, wouldn't have been able to got on with Millis otherwise.

That's a huge issue out that way, seems like there's always a drought. I think that's why I love the SE so much, rains all the darn time. I definitely don't miss the dryness.
