I'm extremely excited but equally nervous. This is a big change for me. While change can be exciting it can also be equally scary. I am no longer in my teens and twenties and living at home. I went from a traveling field service technician for a machinery company, to working a relatively local night shift factory job. After over 10 years of being locked in the same building with some of the same guys it's time for a change. My career there has stagnted, I've topped out my department for growth potential.
I don't want this to come off as some kind of whiney rant so I'll end it before then.
I'm fortune that my wife's family is very supportive of my decision, even a few professional drivers on her side.
My family has been less than so. I believe that they still hold onto the 70's/80's stigma of driving truck.
But they don't pay my bills, I do. My wife stays home to raise our children, not a daycare and we want to keep it such.
Anyway, before I rant and ramble on.............
I am excited.
I submit my letter of resignation tonight.
This should be interesting.

 

I can understand where your coming from. It is a big change. Like you I am excited and nervous at the same time. You will do fine. Just keep your eye on the prize!

Better than I expected, although I wasn't really sure what to expect.
My supervisor came over to my table to tell me he was instructed to escort me out of the building.
I closed up my tool chest, began to roll it away before he told me he was just kidding.
