It's always nice to read about people being happy with their job. And it's only natural to want to defend it when someone comes on here talking #### about your company. When I was with Millis I really liked them I just didn't like being away from my wife even though I was on regional. Tom, Walt, Wade and I think Spencer were the main dispatchers for South East. They all kept me running with very few periods of just sitting. I got a brand new truck 1 year after I got there and put 50,000 miles on it in 6 months. Keep in mind I wanted to get home as fast as I could on Friday and stay at home as long as I could.

I have always said Millis is the best driving company out there for new drivers. The very good equipment was the most important thing to me. With all that said I can relate to the guys that are against the Spy-Cams. I'm very passionate about someone else invading my space even though I don't own the truck I am in charge of it while I'm driving/living in it. Obviously there will be people that couldn't care less about always being on camera and I say good for them. That makes life a little easier.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this, just bored and wanted something to do. Anyway that's my 2 cents and I'm sticking to it.

Key point everyone seems to forget...it's not your space. Your truck is your workplace and belongs to Millis, much the same as the factory floor would be if you worked there, or McDonald's if you worked there. You're gonna be on camera there too.Trust me, i'm not a fan of them, myself, it's just not a deal breaker for me, but I get that people don't like them.

What really gets me is when people make ...shall we say....extreme assumptions. Such as....they just want to stress us out, they just want a way to fire the long term drivers, the safety messages are a major distraction, just to name a few. All of which sound crazy if you really think about it. I'm trying to imagine the conversation they had when they decided the drivers needed to be stressed out. One forum member (don't remember who) actually couldn't understand why he was called out for reading a map and taking both hands off the wheel while driving. Can't imagine why they may spend some time watching him.

Anyway, that's my two cents. ...

It's not quite the same when the truck becomes your home, then it's more like renting a house or an apartment. Although someone else owns it, you are subject to privacy because this is your dwelling, not just your work place. If the company has reason to suspect someone is dangerous, then by all means take action, but to punish the whole because of the actions of a few goes against everything we stand for...what happens to the innocent until proven guilty theory? I fully support some safety precautions, but others completely cross the line.

I often have the conversation about you should lucky you have a job theory...actually, the company is lucky that people are willing to work for them. The employee / employer relationship is a two way street...meaning, it takes an employer AND an employee to make the business run. Each should have the respect and support of the other. But, when one side doesn't provide their part it becomes a we versus them situation and that's not good for either party.

Bottom line, it might be their truck but its my time and sacrifice that makes them money. I expect them to respect that and make it as accommodating as reasonably possible. If it's something other than that, they can come drive the truck themselves.

All of the jobs you speak of, after you get off work your no longer on a camera. In fact I cant think of any job other then a driver that is on a camera 24/7 working or off duty. If you know of one let me know. Solo's point is valid. That truck is your home. kind of like renting a house. It's in your care. I'm still waiting on someone to tell me why the audio needs to be on 2 hours after the truck shuts down.

I know I wont change your mind just like you know you wont change mine either.

    Drive safe.

The camera show you workplace (drivers seat) not your "living space" (bunk area) just sayin'. As to the audio, if me snoring is that interesting, let em listen.

The camera is on the windshield pointing at you as you drive and into your bed.

When they first put them in they told us it won't see into the sleeper, but they later changed that and moved the camera/microphone to the center of the windshield.

The camera is also infra-red. It sees in total darkness .... and yes, Millis does not deny that it's infra-red and sees in total darkness. The camera lens is surrounded by small i.r. lights.

That was me. 1.) I'm not saying that Millis intentionally knows they are creating more stress. Keep in mind only 1 Millis ever drove a truck and he's a drunkard and druggie so they don't let him drive anymore. Millis doesn't have a clue the stress they create with the constant micro-management.

As far as reading a map when driving?? Millis wasn't upset I was reading the map, they were upset that my hands were off the wheel a total of 3 seconds.

    You're a driver??

They don't show the bunk area , just ask an instructor to show you...I don't think even a Millis would want to watch some truck driver sleep. Smh. And why us it relevant that they are infrared? Kinda pointless to have them if they only work in daylight. As to any Millis' personal habits, none of my business as long as it doesn't affect me. It kinda sounds like you just want to defame the Millis family. If I were as unhappy at my job as you appear to be, wouldn't take me but a minute to find a better job.
