Anyone have any information or heard good / bad on these guys? I used to see thier trucks on the road but I never talked to any of thier drivers.

Just wondering because they emailed me and asked me to fill out an app.

(they got my general app from one of those web sites that sends to all companies)

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanx Guys and Gals.

I would look very carefully at any info. this Co. might send you as it is probably really out of date. Worked for them, Bavarian Motor Transport, for five years and quit in Dec. of last year. Made decent money the first year but the pay kept getting lower and lower as they keep adding more and more cheap freight. They will have you hauling Fords, Jeeps, and Subarus saying that they are "backhauls", which is not the case, paying the driver around .22 C.P.M or less and ususally with quite a few stops. In the end I just kinda felt like a scab working out of the same terminals as the unions guys, sick to my stomach that I was hauling cars for such crappy wages.

My hubby works for PMTG, and has for several years. While no company is perfect we have been happy with them about 99 percent of the time.

The auto industry has changed in the last few years but from the latest info we have received things are going well overall, and they do treat their drivers well.

I DO know they get you home, if you break down they are quick to get you on the road again, they take good care of their trucks (I can almost tell the day that hubby will be scheduled for maint. after all this time), and honestly I think part of any job is what you make of it.

Drivers are paid by the load NOT the mile; and it is figured on the cars on the load. Hubby has been a driver for over 20 years and PMTG is the happiest we have been. No they are not perfect, and there are some who will complain no matter what job they have. Routes/loads etc have changed in the last couple of years but they have kept my hubby running with only a slight slow down back in the end of 2008 and then it was only slow for about 5 weeks.

He has always been home for Christmas which seems to be an issue for a lot of drivers, vacations are when they are supposed to be, health insurance is decent and new payroll system is working well. Anyone I have delt with is always nice and when his father passed away PMTG was awesome, as when my father died.

Thank you both for your honesty, I am still looking into this. Not making any hasty decision. Id like to have it as a viable option.

You can stay out either 2.5 weeks or 3.5 weeks if you are running OTR, so yes you will get home eventually. You will get either 2 or 3 days off depending on if you choose the 2.5 or 3.5 schedule

You are paid from a percentage of the load, yes, but if you averaged out all the cheap frieght, AKA "backhauls", they usually amounted to around .22 CPM. They don't pay for stops, so you could have 8 or 9 stops on one run and it could take you 2 or 3 days to get all your cars off. They do not pay any meaningful breakdown pay. Also you are dispatched runs determinded by how the well the indivduals running the teminal/s likes you, preferential treatment runs rampant and there is nothing you the driver can do about it.

Also, which is important to me IDK about you, they do not have incidents; every little nick, scrape, snafu is an accident. There are guys that have been working there for a while that, according to the company, have had 20 or 30 "accidents" and they refuse to put on your driver's history report whether they are classified as preventable or unpreventable. When you are driving a car-hauler in and out of the places they will send you, I gaurantee you will have some incidents. Certainly your first year.

Just beware what you read on the internet. I know for certain recruiters view message boards regularly, and often mislead people. One was posing as a driver for this company saying he worked there for 20 odd years. They do not like individuals saying anything negative about this company at all. They refuse to tell people that they have a 110% turnover and that their average OTR driver does not make the figures they are quoting in their recruitment ad.

To the OP, go check out some of user name "Rainman1971" recent post and you can get a good idea of what this company is like now. Maybe PM him, and he would probably get back with you. His post seem to be a lot more truthful, and based on fact, as opposed to the individual that posted above me.

If you can survive the first 6 mouth making 400 or less a week. because they wont let you load a night for the first 6 mouths. almost no back hauls and i was only getting .16 a mile for dead head. i would load in jersey, deliver in utica ny, and they would deadhead me all the way to Baltimore. I would get there and would have to sit until morning and hope they had a load. Not for me. Like i said if you can survive for 6 months and get pay peanuts, i guess after that you can do ok. to long for me
