I am from Alaska and though not an Ice Road Trucker I have drive the Haul Road many times in winter and can say this. What I do in Juneau is 10 times more dangerous. We truly drive in Icy conditions. When its deep winter and Temps drop to well below freezing your warm tires stick like glue. Once temps rise is when things get dangerous. Safer than doing multiple stops in Queens any day.

Good Companies are Alaska Interstate Construction, Colville, Little Red Services, Lynden, Carlisle, and many others.

Then you were like I was. I too had a few years OTR driving military trucks hauling specialized heavy equipment and other things. That type of experience you should have no problem with. All I had to do was show some log books and orders and they excepted that. There are no contacts and every company I went to understood that.
What most will not except is the military driver that stays on base or once in awhile goes out on the road only driving military type tactical vehicles. And rightfully so.
When I was out for months at a time I ran independent and really answered to no one. It was great being the only active duty at a research facility with huge funding. Get the item there and go on to the next one. -
So what is the best way to get a job up there in Alaska? Also not sure if i have my log books from years ago. -
