Im sitting here in the Best Western in Jerome Idaho. Tomorrow morning I start orientation with Giltner Transportation. They are a small company compared to my last one, Crete, and I am hoping for better treatment.

Im more than willing to blog how it goes if anyone else is interested.

Wish me luck, as I am tired of job hopping!!!

Well today was the first day of a two day orientation. More like half a day but it was easy. Pretty much the usual stuff. Pee test, safety movies, log boss came in and gave her spiel. HOS movies, everything you have seen before. Havent seen my truck yet. I heard it is a Kenworth T600 and its having some paint work done to it somewhere in town. Supposed to be back tomorrow, hopefully in time for me to leave in it tomorrow night.

On tap for tomorrow is a road test and then payroll and whatever paperwork is left. Then over to meet the boss and the dispatchers, see the shop and meet and greet.

If your physical exam is still valid, they do not make you take another one just for their benefit. They will use your current wallet card and make a copy of your long form. Probably a good cost savings on their part. Small company, 150 trucks so Im not surprised.

All their trucks have APUs installed. So I dont think u will need to bring ur own inverter. but I will check just to make sure. She did tell me that they are going to an all Cascadia fleet. I will also ask the boys in the shop about that too.

They run 70 mph trucks too, or at least some of them are, some are 75 mph trucks, I see them all over in this area.

Well I spoke too soon. The T600 I ended up with was a previous lease truck and it does not have an APU. However, it does have 480K miles on it and is in the next batch to go so I doubt if I will have it too long. All of their trucks run 68mph now. I did not get to talk to the shop guys too much today, but I am going to address the inverter question tomorrow before I leave there. Also, all of my papers are still at the terminal so I will have to wait on the cost of insurance questions until I get them. Sorry.
