lawsuit eh? well the CEO sent the email and all drivers had till sat, mechanics had 2 weeks MAYBE it took the senior staff about a month to clear paperwork and finsh to closing of the company. I don't think anybody at the day to day level had any notice at all.

Hey Jeff, ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE RIGHT COMPANY?

I happen to be an ex-Priority driver myself and i can honestly state that i did more sitting, wasting my 14 hour clock waiting for a load than running. I am not complaining, i am stating actual facts! The biggest check i seen from Priority was $750 after taxes, that was running 1 load a week. To add more insult to misery, they wanted me to drive 1500 miles in 9 hours illegally, no crying bout it. Anyone who is somewhat mathimatically inclined can state that you cannot run 1500 miles in 9 hours legal or not. I had one load starting in Holcomb, Ks. bound for Syracuse, NY., sat there 6 hours, picked up the load at 6pm on a wensday night and had to be in Syracuse by 3am the next morning, i managed to get to the terminal in Chesterton, in. by 5am the next morning.

My next question to you Jeff is: How can you do a 1800 mile trip (i.e. from Holcomb, Ks. to Syracuse, NY.) in 9 hours without crying about it, Legal or illegal? These types of illegal activity lead to Priority's downfall.

there was 2 divison Mortis the Van and the Reefer, you were Reefer, as was I, the run you spoke of was common and most drivers did what we could and just had appt's remade or drop and hooked, it being late shifted the fault of the load to Tyson and off the driver. I averaged $750 a week over the last 6 months, I was there 2 and a half years.

Priority started out in watertown ny, they closed the doors in '97, started pro-links, who then got bought out by company called priority out of TN, when Priority from watertown closed shop they never told any of their drivers,I had a friend who fueled his truck went to pay for it and found out his fuel card was no longer valid, family had to send him money to pay for the bill, later they all found out that the money that was taken out of their checks for income tax and social security was never turned over to gov't and was kept by the owner(?) who later started the company prolinks, and rumor had it he was just as crooked there, When they got bought out by priority in TN I do not know what happend from there, just glad I never worked for the guy

I am trying to find out whatever I can on Priority. The main office was in FArmington, NY but my b-i-l worked out of Chesterton, IN.

My interest is more directed toward whether or not they actually did file for bankruptcy or were they bought out by another company.

This is such a long story, you probably aren't interested, but finding out any info I can is VERY important.

My BIL (brother in law) worked for them several years ago. He was involved in an accident around Chicago where the drive ahead of him stopped suddenly. (actually they ran into the car ahead of them - so there were no brakelights to indicate they had stopped). Needless to say - he hit them - just barely, but nonetheless - he did hit them.

A passenger in the car he hit is now suing him. His insurance would have covered him at the time, but since that person waited so long - he is now being told that Priority filed backruptcy and so did the insurance company that insured Priority. My BIL is now faced with losing everything in this dumb lawsuit.

We can't find out anything about the actual bankruptcy filing. Where, when etc.................

It's so complicated. I"d be happy to explain to anyone willing to listen, but it's so convoluted that it's hard to explain.

Simply, the passenger in the car claims whiplash. easy enough? no - she's from Canada and is trying to get $500,000 for pain and suffering from whomever she can get it. If she can find someone uninsured in this accident - she can take that back to Canada and collect her $$ under their uninsured motorist policy. Problem is - if she does that - then they come after my BIL. He'd lose everything but his house and at age 56, that would mean a lifetime of of work and sacrifice.

He's been unemployed for almost 2 years now and this is very 'trying' to say the least. We're trying to help, but we need additional help.

I read on this thread that Celadon trucking bought Priority? Is that correct?

I could go on but I won't, but thanks for listening.

well Priority went bankrupt .. the customer data was sold to Celadon to try to help ofset debt. on a side note, GE Financial owned about 66% of Priority stock... maybe that will help.
