I don't have to worry about it, either. I have only had my hair tested once. Initially, I wasn't crazy about having it done. I thought that I would have a big gap in my hair. I didn't. I think they got some underneath. It probably gave them better testing and I didn't have a gap. Hair would probably be the best way for carriers and the DOT to test drivers. If you have to be concerned about having your hair tested you may want to either rethink your career choice or change your behavior. Hair will give a much longer picture of drug use than urine or blood. We don't need people out here on the road who are on drugs. If you have a problem with drug use there are programs and services available that can help you.

When they test your hair how far does it go back?
-
I don't have a problem with them doing hair testing at all. Nothing to be worried about for me unless they can go back about 15 years when I was in college. Indiana University in Bloomington,In was a wild campus!

They can go back for several months from what I understand. The longer they go back the higher the cost to the carrier. You may contact some of the carriers who do the testing and ask them. I would expect them to go back 3-6 months, but I would check to be sure. -

Your hair is constantly growing. They could not go back any further than the your hair growth. My guess is that they could probably not go back any further than a year if that long due to how hair grows.Les2 Thanks this. -
i did a hair test once and they just took it from my arm. and its not like they shaved the whole thing, i would rather do these than whiz in a cup to be honest.
chemster Thanks this.
